  1. A few years ago I saw a guy at Heroes Con getting Neal Adams to draw a giant bust of Cyclops on his 11x17. I imagine he was going to get it colored eventually. If you theme your portfolios it could be cool to get someone to draw on the outside to match.
  2. I'm not a Turner collector but I thought this would end in the 15k-17.5k range because it's such a well-known image. IMO it went high
  3. It's their "Intranet" system. If a package seems lost or hasn't moved in 3-5 days call and ask if there is any movement on that end and they can check. You still need to find a non lazy employee to look but if you request it there's a better chance.
  4. I didn't know Roger well but spoke to him a few times in the past four years. He was a great guy, from my experience. I initially asked him about a specific piece of art I was looking for, and he took the time to see if he could locate it. I was a random, and he took a good amount of time to try to help me. Gave me a ton of history on it, which wasn't public knowledge. He knew the original owner of the piece, funny enough. From my short interactions, he was a real gem.
  5. I know the card and am familiar with both versions. A lot of the roughs looked different from the finished versions. Here's a better scan of what I posted before. It could be something different but it is marked as card 11 and aliens are killing humans with guns.
  6. Gotcha. When it said preliminary in the description I assumed it was sketch prelim.
  7. I agree with you, I believe it to be the best as well - I will not be surprised if it ends up in the Halperin collection. It will be a crazy and fun auction to watch from the sidelines.
  8. So this is the same comp that came to mind since it's the same type of classic image Black Cat is to comics. However, I think 250k is where this will fall roughly. I could be completely wrong, but I remember the talk when Chamber of Chills was coming up for sale. A lot of collectors were saying 500-750k. When that auction ended many said it was such a deal. If it was, I feel like plenty of offers would have been made, but when you look at the listing, there aren't any pending/rejected.
  9. At this point, you've put it out there and brought some attention to the situation. Not much more you can do at this point. At the end of the day he will see your information and feel how he feels about the piece (which you can't change) and the community will decide what they feel is the "legitimate piece". You could ask him to change his description or talk to his friends but I wouldn't expect much from that.
  10. The result is high, but you're getting one of Mignola's best drawing pieces from a prime era. It's by far the best Dracula image there is. For context, I don't care much for the Dracula comic but I threw 40k at it in hopes of taking it down because it is an amazing example. I agree that for the money I'd also rather have Hellboy but I felt that way with the Death in the Family cover results. You could buy a couple of good vintage Hellboy covers for this price, but for the same dollar amount, you couldn't take down one of the best Hellboy covers at this point.
  11. Not sure if the current owner is public knowledge, but I got to see the cover in person about a year and a half ago at a collector's house. It's a cool piece. Gotta agree with you on the composition.
  12. Where do you think this should have landed at? I wasn't aware of the previous sale but thought it was worth 35k
  13. He's one of the best guys out there. I hope he has a great future in the industry. He's too talented not to.
  14. Not much of a commission collector, but this is my favorite piece I've commissioned. Cthulhu by Jonathan Wayshak. Size is 11x17 and was done a few years back. Jon liked it so much that he eventually made it into prints, shirts and I believe some promo stuff.
  15. I've bought from Bechara twice over the years. Even though my last interaction left a sour taste in my mouth I may buy again depending on what it is. Not to get into it, but I was offered a piece and the price kept changing with the end result being 2x from what I was originally told.
  16. To follow up on my previous comment. About 5 weeks ago I ordered a cover from Paolo. He was very responsive for a couple of days when I wanted to purchase the piece, but after payment was made it was radio silence on when the art would ship. After 3 weeks of sending an email a week, I contacted the artist for advice. I was suggested to do whatever I felt was needed to receive the art or money back. At the 4-week mark I opened a PayPal claim for a full refund. It took the full 7 days without any fighting or prolonging the claim from Paolo's end. This afternoon was the 7th day of the claim being opened with PayPal siding with me. The artist said if they receive the art back from Cadence I can purchase it from them. If that ever happens I'll do another update.
  17. Bought a piece last week from them. Hasn't shipped out yet but I'll keep you posted when I get it.
  18. Thank you! The timing was perfect and I live in a smaller tourist town so prices weren’t insane yet. My neighbor, who has a similar layout to mine, just sold theirs for 140k more than what I paid. If I were in the market today it would have been practically impossible without selling off some of the best pieces in my collection.
  19. Currently, it's about 60% of my net worth. My collectibles were as high as 80% two years ago when I was still collecting books. I liquidated some when I purchased a house. I've been throwing most of my income into art and books since I started collecting almost a decade ago. I'm 30 btw.
