  1. WOW!! Mike Zeck and Bob McLeod The Amazing Spider-Man #293 hammer was $20K Loved that sequence I own art from two pages later. Always wanted to get the one in between with him eating the Spiders.
  2. Fantastic. I own the 2nd page after Zeck ASM 293 page is the issue. Missed on on the page inbetween with Kraven eating all the spiders. That one is my favorite from the story.
  3. I was annoyed at some of the lack of etiquette. I had two people contact me thru the CAL contact email option (not a purchase request). First person emailed me on saturday he was interested and asked the shipping cost but did not include what artwork he wanted. I responded asking what artwork. Then resent a purchase request which had the artwork listed but still mentioned he was interested. I responded but never heard back. Then I sold it to another person later after waiting an hour. Other person CAL contact email option on saturday and said he was "seriously interested" and asked if I could do a lower price. I responded with and offer but no response either accept or reject. Emailed again today earlier but no response. I understand there is alot of art people are looking at and some are selling. But if you inquire about a piece say your interested or ask for a discount. I expect the person to response saying the will do the deal or decide not to. This is what I always do if I inquire and and decide not to buy I always tell the seller my decision. Please a little etiquette when you inquire about possible buying artwork.
  4. I think collectors have fewer pieces they are looking to sell. I have been more selective on my purchases and I think others are similar.
  5. Back in 2015 when Frank Thorne decided to sell all his artwork I bought this unused cover for 1994 issue (Sanjulian did the published cover). At the time Frank was not inking then about 2 years ago I got David Roach to lightbox ink the cover. David is a huge Thorne fan and did a great job and add the logos.
  6. I saw a few pieces I used to own were up in CAL. Including a triplicate X-Men cover by Stuart Immonen and X-Men Jim Lee page both prices surprised me. The Immonen which was listed for $21K sold, not sure what the final price was but that was over 3x what I sold it for years ago. The Jim Lee X-Men page I remember buying from Jim at Wonder Con in 1990 for $120 with a wolverine head sketch and asking price is $55K. Boy asking prices sure have gone up.
  7. Sold one piece, and made offer on another. No response yet.
  8. Fantastic!!!! I love the strip, I was lucky enough to acquire three consecutive strips which I love but yours is the best single Sky Masters strip.
  9. Uncanny X-Men #242 page 4 by Marc Silvestri (Penciller) and Dan Green (Inker) From the Inferno storyline when X-Men and X-Factor finally meet and its explosive. Wolverine attacks Jean but she fights him off with Scott looking on. The Goblin Queen has changed into Madelyne Pryor form and, thinking that she is being attacked by X-Factor, the Havoc attacks Iceman and Beast. This is the start of X-Men and X-Factor battle in Inferno. IM me.
  10. With Fedex I have it held at a local office which I then pickup from.
  11. Yes, but at least three packages have been stolen on their way to Heritage via USPS. Mine was priority. This is the only issue I have had with USPS in over 30 years of shipping artwork. Registered takes forever and the tracking sucks. No real update til it arrives at the destination.
  12. Yup that was my mistake. I usually don't have issues sending comic art by USPS but then I sed to private residences not address with "Auctions" in the title.
  13. Update on my lost Ghost Rider page. Someone contacted me thru Comicartfans a few weeks ago, said he "found" the artwork and wondering if there was a reward. I had him send me a photo of the artwork as proof which he did. Thru the name he gave me and other info I found he is in Missouri not in Texas where it disappeared I offered to send him money to cover shipping the artwork back and when I received it I would send him a finders fee. The guy thought the page was worth much more and asked for more payment. At that point I contacted the USPS again and am involving the police. Will let you know how it ends up. Brian
  14. I signed up for Butch Guice's commission list earlier this year and he just sent me a scan of the finished artwork. He did a great job with Jean and Scott of the original X-Men, with warren and Bobby making a fleeting appearance. Butch did a great job channeling the Silver Age and a nod to Kirby with "A Marvel Masterwork Pin-up"
  15. Frank Zappa Over-nite Sensation cover painting by Dave McMacken From the collection of Len Callo https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=736072
  16. Not album artwork but I own the original concept art for the Pink Floyd "Backs" Poster put out in 1997 when they re-released their catalog. Finlay Cowan and Storm Thorgerson (he created the Dark Side of the Moon and other Pink Floyd album covers) came up with the concept, Finlay did this prelim and the models were photographed by Tony May. Its BIG, 30"x50", and on the back are a bunch of notes and sketches showing the artist's thought process and rejected ideas. Final pencil concept artwork 30"x50" (front) Published image of the 6 women. Pauline Swaine the blond is Atom Heart Mother Julia Ashbury is Relics Jackie St Clair is Dark Side of the Moon Mandy is the the red head with Wish You Were Here Jo Caine is The Wall Kimberley Cowell is the Animals Rejected concepts and ideas which are on the back of the artwork.
  17. The only album artwork I own is from Crowology the last alum the Black Crowes released before the 7 year hiatus. Alan Forbes did the artwork, he had worked with then for 20 years since just after they started, he would do the art for their posters and most of their merchandise. I have been friend with Alan for years. Was lucky enough to acquire the art from him. 3 Original Cover Artworks Original Inside Artwork Original Back Cover Artwork Songs (all hand lettered) 3 Original Band and Guests Credits (all hand lettered) CD cover
  18. I attended the Gerald Scarfe exhibit at The San Francisco Art Exchange. Some fantastic artwork. I was also sent a catalogue of his art the SFAE was selling for him. The pieces that interested me was way out of my range. I have been to a number of exhibits at SFAE including of Hipgnosis who did many of the Pink Floyd album covers plus other groups the worked with like The Rolling Stones and Syd Barrett. Some prelims of covers but alot of photos including the collage to A Saucerful of Secrets Album which included Dr Strange. One of my visits I saw the original pencil drawings for the Dark Side of The Moon cover. Asking was 1,000,000. SFAE also had a set of 6 Outtakes From The "Abbey Road" Album Cover printed by the original photographer. SFAE years back was selling the original art by Vargas to Candy-O cover for the Cars album.
  19. I tend to be very selective in my commissions doing alot of research before requesting a commission. I have never gotten a commission (at home) I have gotten a couple where they didn't blow me away but like the finished product. One where I didn't realize the artist's style had changed from when I collected his artwork so it looks different from what I envisioned but I still enjoy it. It's con drawing where I have gotten a couple where the final product was a let down, its with older artists. The con drawings I didn't pay much for so doesn't really bother me. I have so many more commissions that have blown me away so the one that were not as strong do not bother me at all.
  20. Most of the Spring recreations have been going between 4k-7k over the last few year. Not alot of change.
