  1. I attended the Gerald Scarfe exhibit at The San Francisco Art Exchange. Some fantastic artwork. I was also sent a catalogue of his art the SFAE was selling for him. The pieces that interested me was way out of my range.

I have been to a number of exhibits at SFAE including of Hipgnosis who did many of the Pink Floyd album covers plus other groups the worked with like The Rolling Stones and Syd Barrett. Some prelims of covers but alot of photos including the collage to  A Saucerful of Secrets Album which included Dr Strange.

One of my visits I saw the original pencil drawings for the Dark Side of The Moon cover.

    Asking was 1,000,000.

SFAE also had a set of 6 Outtakes From The "Abbey Road" Album Cover printed by the original photographer.

SFAE years back was selling the original art by Vargas to Candy-O cover for the Cars album.

  2. I tend to be very selective in my commissions doing alot of research before requesting a commission. I have never gotten a commission (at home) I have gotten a couple where they didn't blow me away but like the finished product. One where I didn't realize the artist's style had changed from when I collected his artwork so it looks different from what I envisioned but I still enjoy it.

It's con drawing where I have gotten a couple where the final product was a let down, its with older artists. The con drawings I didn't pay much for so doesn't really bother me. I have so many more commissions that have blown me away so the one that were not as strong do not bother me at all.

I think its beautiful, and maybe it popped back up too fast also, along with prices overall generally softening-- but I also figure the people that love golden age Batman are lessening.

Most of the Spring recreations have been going between 4k-7k over the last few year. Not alot of change.

Peanuts stuff definitely soft.  This would have been $20k floor, $25k expected 1 to 2 years ago and the only reason it closed this high is I was the underbidder and ran it up.  I thought I was going to win it for ~12k for a little while.

This page features an adventure in the Savage Land and includes Havok, Lorna Dane, Ka-Zar, Jean Grey, Magneto and his lackey, Amphibius. This was before Lorna adopted the superhero name "Polaris". On this page, Lorna and Havok are having a discussion about what her name could be.

John Byrne returned to both pencil and write the story of the previously undocumented tales of the X-Men in between X-Men #66 (the end of the original team's title in 1970) and Giant-size X-Men #1 (the famous 1975 debut of the second team of X-Men).

    Hey Brian,

How many are you able to accommodate? Several from our collecting group were talking about doing something that evening, so depending on the space available, perhaps we could join.

we have had ones in the past of 15-20 people
