Anyone catch last night's episode? I think Anthony's new look stole the show.

For me, a couple really cool BA pages stood out: the Ghost Rider/Johnny Blaze page was neat - I really liked the Ms. Marvel page, but it's outside my focus to make a move on it.

@Buzzetta showed up last night after a bit, but my power went out (snowstorm) around Round 8, so I missed the recap. Not sure what moved after Round 8.

Saw the Johnny Blaze page but needed more Ghost Rider

  3. In the November Signature Heritage I have a few pieces up for auction:

Frank Frazetta Johnny Comet Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 2-27-52 (McNaught Syndicate, 1952). Features Johnny, Jean (third appearance) and Little Bolt of Lightning. Great example from the strip. Note that the star of this larger-sized daily bears a marked resemblance to the artist himself! Size 21.25" x 5.75"

Gilbert Shelton Tribal Stomp Concert Program Cover with Fabulous Furry Freak Bros. Characters Original Art and Litho Program Group of 2 (KSAN-FM 95/Family Dog/Metromedia, 1978). Shelton's Freak Bros. characters crash the stage for the Frisco Bay area's 10th Tribal Stomp event. Astonishing detail and kinetic intensity on a grand scale from a chief architect of the rock-affiliated Underground Comix movement. (Featured artists included a reunited Butterfield Blues Band, with Elvin Bishop and Mike Bloomfield; Nick Gravenites' reorganized version of Big Brother & the Holding Company; and Country Joe McDonald & the Fish.) Accompanied by a well-preserved, partially creased litho-print program. Ink over graphite on 16" x 20" Bristol board, affixed to a backing sheet. Autographed at lower margin. White-painted art corrections; toning and handling wear; one rip in the backing board (not in the original art layer); and glue residue at center. The "Family Dog" production-company logo (upper center) is a stat. Very Good condition.

  4. I have been collecting for many years, back when I started in 1986 I was still reading comics and X-Men was my favorite and mostly read Marvel but did read DC. So first 10 years I mostly collected X-Men with a concentration on Jean Grey.

My sweet spot for collecting was late 70s and 80s beyond X-Men I was a huge New Teen Titans fan loved Perez, Garcia-Lopez but especially Eduardo Barreto. Besides New Teen Titans I collected 80s independent publishers from AC Comics, Comico and Kitchen Sink. It was tough being in the Bay Area most artist were back east so was relegated to Wonder Con once a year.

It was when ebay hit that I started to expand beyond X-Men and Marvel art, so much more art was out there the first few years of ebay. I also started to concentrate on artist I liked John Buscema, Eduardo Barreto, Al Williamson and many others. By the new century I had filled in alot of my X-Men wants and really started to expand, buying more DC art and artist I loved but the art was harder and more extensive to but like Ditko, Everett and Alex Raymond. I also expanded into comic strip art and illustration.

These days after collecting for some 36 years I am more selective gone are the days when I would impulse buy a page on ebay, ha or at a con. I have found I am more selective and looking for nice examples of golden, silver, bronze age and illustrative  artists. Still love collecting but some of the art I still really want I don't see on the market much these days.

  5. I pretty much don’t collect much interior art published after the mid 90s. Unless the page is a great design or can tell the story without the word balloons I won’t buy it. I prefer pages with word balloons, I like to collect pages which are part of stories I like. Pages seem generic without word balloons.
