  1. Well put. But still. $10k for a 3.0? Are people really doing that? Or are sellers just trying to get that? No way this is above a Cap 46
  2. Can anyone tell me why, if sales tax is being collected, anyone would buy a big book at a convention? By big, I mean over $25k. I’ve heard people say they would never buy a big book at auction or over the Internet, and instead only do it at conventions. I just don’t get why. Every convention I go to has people walking around in costume and selling medieval armor. Maybe there’s a backstage pass I’m missing out on, where all the cool comic stuff happens
  3. That there is a piece of history, Cat. I guess Mr. Schomburg must have been getting a piece of it when the lithos were originally sold. Does anyone know what the selling price was when the lithos were first offered to the public?
  4. Busted. You’re so right. My rationale: It’s an upgrade, and I’ll be throwing my undercopies back into the sea. My reality: I’m weak.
  5. I know that. I’ve got 3 of them and just today purchased a 9.0. My point was it’s not on the list posted previously in this string. Overstreet doesn’t give it classic cover status. CGC has started to go around Overstreet by calling it a “classic flag cover”, but that, to me anyway, doesn’t get it right. Does “classic flag cover” mean the cover isn’t good enough to be a true classic amongst all covers, only meriting status amongst the sub genre of “flag” covers? That is faint praise
  6. Oh on the ratio thing: I thought you meant 1 out of 10 random books. I now see you meant one out of 10 books within a particular title. Yes, you are right about Caps and MMCs for sure.
  7. Agreed. Cap 1 and Cap 37 come quickly to mind . .
  8. I like what you say Cat, but I was thinking the ratio might be closer to 1 in a 100
  9. Well that’s a logical question, but since Cgc still gave my book white pages, I guess not
  10. I don’t think so. But I may be misunderstanding your question. When I think of PQ, I’m thinking about the traditional “brittle to white” range. The book I’m looking at has light foxing on the cover but the pages are “white”.
  11. Oh, the shirtless guy. I didn’t realize he was still active. What is he, 100?
  12. You might be right. I definitely like the way you think. Cap 1 has been recently selling for around $35k price per point, which puts it around $335k. Of course, the pedigree and the fact its one of the highest will bring a premium. Normally its hard to gauge how many people can afford to bid each other over the book, but seems like the hitters will turn out for this one. It’ll be interesting to see how its hammer price compares to the 9.2 AF 15 that just sold on CC for around $500k.
  13. Cat, I love all the crazy little minions in MMC 46! heres my contribution to the thread
  14. I love this page. And I’m a big Batman fan. But is it just me? Look at The Batman. How did this character survive?
  15. Coincidence. I hold in my hand a premium estimate from Collectible Insurance that I just got finished with. I guess I wasn't the only one who got an email from them today. Anyway, they estimate my premiums to be $1144 per year. This estimate took all of 5 minutes to work up. About 30 minutes later, the insurance co called me up to see if I had any questions. So, I guess I now know if I bring my 7 books home from the bank deposit box, the pleasure of having them nearby will be about $100/mo. I gotta decide if its worth it. There have been other threads where people have praised this company. They will pay in case of a claim. But then they will always cancel you afterward. If this is true, that's ok by me.
  16. $350-$400k if not conserved and no label notes. I just got done turning my ship, and I ain’t doing it again
