  1. Heritage will go that deep to land the book??!! Ok, well you would know, Gator
  2. You create a diversion while I run in . . .
  3. That is just too funny on so many levels. Gotham Kid IS Elvis, and if you are a Cap 1 backer, you are clearly looking for trouble and have come to the right place. Peace
  4. No, not me. But both books are still steals at their current prices. They are still both about $80 to $100k low, I think. I may have to walk across the street tomorrow and witness the sound and the fury in person.
  5. OK, neither the Bat 1 nor the 5.5 Cap 1 have had much movement for 2 weeks now. Usually somebody breaks within the final 24 hour countdown and starts testing the waters by throwing down bids. Nothing. The suspense is killing me
  6. And finally, I’m out. Someone else has picked up the baton on Bat 1 and 5.5 Cap 1. Let it ride!! I still say Bat 1 beats Cap 1 by $50k
  7. Oh I know this book! Gator told me he has bought and sold this particular copy 2 or 3 times
  8. My thoughts exactly. Texas still doesn’t have the online taxes applied to sales from other states yet, which means no taxes for Clink or CC auctions, but since Heritage is located here, we have to pay those taxes every time.

  10. I’m rooting for you to be right. A 7.0 went for $243k recently, so yours is a good estimate
  11. Is it just me, or is Rick starting to look like Neil Young? And is that Adam and Danielle Perlman? I’ve done big bidness with them but never knew what they looked like. In fact, could someone be so kind as to supply the real names and board names of the people in these pictures? (3 Batman 1s? Seriously? 3 of them?)
  12. That’s ok, Cat. You are the only one that showed us the train and the countryside. If you come back to Texas the same way you went to San Diego, which appeared to be by mule train, I expect more We will wanna see what books you picked up.
  13. I had to pull down my Gerbers after reading your post. These are all covers that I’ve not really taken notice of. Number 4 does show to be a Schomburg cover, like 3. To me, neither look like Schomburg, and I’m not sure what stylistic impulse he’s following here. Honestly Syd Shores has never done much for me. I know others feel differently. If you are looking for one example of a Timely Superhero book for your collection, I say ya can’t go wrong with a Schomburg WWII cover. I view Schomburg as the quintessential Timely artist, and the quintessential WWII artist. Not sure I’d go with 4 just because it doesn’t look like Schomburg. I think 37 is popular just because it, of all his covers, captures his usual chaos so beautifully. There’s something about the image that takes your eye and moves it in a circular motion around the book. The movement he has captured is elegant and purposeful. And the details contained within this unusual layout are all individually pleasing. From the charging Americans carrying the flag, to the hapless Germans in front, realizing their mistake, to the burning building in the background. You mentioned 26, 29,31 and 33. All fine choices. Of them, I like 33 the best, but 33s are hard to find. I don’t think you could go wrong with any of these 4, and they shouldn’t break the bank(except for possibly 33).
  14. Overstreet doesn’t help in his description: “reprints with 2 new origin pages” seems not so sexy
  15. You’ve got the right issues identified, but it seems like the Cap 7s aren’t getting as much interest now as they used to.
