  1. I don't want to be the only one who doesn't post a picture of FF #13.
  2. @KirbyJack and @MattTheDuck, do you two coordinate your postings?
  3. Well, as of right now, I am working towards two goals: First, I want to get Brave and the Bold #28 - #30 and Justice League of America #1 - #14 in slabs. Currently, I have BatB #28 and #29 in slabs, as well as JLA #1, #2, #13, and #14 in slabs. I want to complete this run like this (#3: CGC 5.0 - 5.5, #4 - #6: CGC 5.5 - 6.0, #7 - #9: CGC 6.0 - 6.5, #10 - #12: CGC 6.5 - 7.0). I know most people will think this is lame, but JLA was a book I really enjoyed when I was young. Second, I want my FF Annuals #1 - #6 with slabs, with no grades lower than CGC 6.0, as well as ASM Annuals #4 - #5, with no grade lower than CGC 8.0. I want to complete this goal like this: FF Annual #1: CGC 6.0, FF Annual #2: CGC 6.5 - 7.0, FF Annual #3: CGC 7.0 - 7.5, FF Annual #4: CGC 7.5 - 8.0, FF Annual #5 and #6: CGC 8.0 - 8.5. Also, ASM Annual #4: CGC 8.0 - 8.5, ASM Annual #6: CGC 8.5 - 9.0. I also want to get a nice copy of Mystery in Space #53 for a reasonable price, and I would really like to get a copy of Superman #53. At some point in time, I need to buy back IH #181 and GSXM #1, as I sold these to pay for AF #15, I think. And, as a pipe dream, I would like to get a copy of Detective Comics #140, which is the first Riddler.
  4. Sgt. Fury (8 raw), Strange Tales (7 raw), and Tales to Astonish (7 raw) have multiple raw issues. I honestly don't have a lot of motivation to have these graded or replace them with slabs. Avengers, Incredible Hulk, Journey into Mystery, Tales of Suspense, and X-Men have all issues slabbed. Amazing Spider-Man (#1 - #18, #20, plus others), Daredevil (#1 - #10), and Fantastic Four (#1 - #17, #20, plus others) are minimally slabbed. I do need to get ASM #19 and Fantastic Four #18 and #19 slabbed.
  5. Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 CGC 5.0 from Shortboxed: Tales to Astonish #36 from Comic Connect: With the arrival of this copy of Tales to Astonish #36, I have completed my goal of owning the first ten issues of all the early Marvel Silver Age titles. I currently own: Amazing Spider-Man #1 - #400 (plus Amazing Fantasy #15 and Annual #1 - #5) Avengers #1 - #16 (all CGC 6.0 or higher, except for issue #1 - CGC 5.5) Daredevil #1 - #200 (plus Annuals #1 and #4; #1 - #10 in CGC 6.0 or higher) Fantastic Four #1 - #300 (plus Annuals #1 - #6) Incredible Hulk #1 - #6 Journey into Mystery #83 - #92 (plus issues #103, #109, #112, #114, and Annual #1) Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos #1 - #10 Strange Tales #101 - #110 (plus issues #89, #114, #115, #135, and Annual #2) Tales of Suspense #39 - #50 (plus issues #52 and #57) Tales to Astonish #27, #35 - #44 (plus issues #57 and #59) X-Men #1 - #16 (all in CGC 6.0 or higher, except for issue #1 - CGC 3.0) I started this project sometime in 2022 (I honestly don't remember when), and it was my goal to finish this before 2024. I don't mean to brag, but I consider this a tremendous accomplishment.
  6. Agreed. I also like the Quesada cover for Daredevil Marvel Knights #8.
  7. Well, it depends on what you mean when you say "move." If "move" means transferring your books from one location to another, then cracking them open isn't a bad idea. If "move" means selling your books, then cracking them open is a very bad idea. I currently have approximately 230 slabbed books. I don't need to open anyone of them to read the issue; I have alternative ways of doing that. No one in my family has one iota of interest in my comic book and comic art collection. Keeping the books slabbed will make it much easier for them to sell my collection when the time comes. Of course, not all my books are slabbed, but I have very few books that have a value over $250 that are not already slabbed.
  8. I am now adding the following book as a bonus in hopes of getting my Brave and the Bold #42 - #44 set sold. $55 shipped. Sold to @rdp collectibles! Justice League of America #14 - Atom joins the Justice League of America. Both the cover and centerfold detached at top staple.
  9. Prices have now been lowered as follows: ASM Annual #1 CGC 3.0 with WHITE pages - Now $590 shipped. Brave and the Bold #42 - #44 Set - Now $65 shipped.
  10. I read this quote by Stan Lee today on IG: "I always sympathized with the villains because I saw myself in them." An appropriate quote, based on all the vitriol that's present in these threads. Don't get me wrong - I think @Prince Namor is providing all of us with a lot of interesting facts and information. I have read through all of the threads he has created. Now, I think it's time to move on and stop beating a dead horse. Based on what I have read in Prince Namor's thread, my view of Stan Lee has changed, and not for the better. It's clear that Stan took credit for things that he didn't do, and he short-changed his artists in the process. I'm more than happy to agree with my previous statement: Stan Lee took credit for things that he didn't do, and he short-changed his artists in the process. Before anyone believes that I think is the comic book equivalent of the <former dictator of Germany during World War II>, there is no way anyone is going to be able to convince me that Timely/Atlas Comics would have turned into Marvel Comics without the contributions of Stan Lee. It's painfully clear that Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, John Romita, et. al., were wonderful and creative storytellers. To me, what elevated Marvel Comics over DC and other companies was Stan's dialogue. Also, through his non-stop hype, Stan served as a "cheerleader" for Marvel Comics. I can't remember if I ever saw anything like that in DC comics. I, for one, have gotten the point of these threads, which I summarized in my above statement. I don't believe that it is appropriate to portray Stan as someone who sat around and did nothing but cash checks. Stan's dialogue and never-ending hype elevated Marvel above the other Silver Age companies. To me, this seems to be ignored amongst all the Stan Lee-bashing that occurs in these threads.
  11. I really like this cover, but it definitely has perspective issues.
  12. Brave and the Bold #42 - #44 set, all featuring Joe Kubert artwork. I am selling these three books as a set ONLY. My asking price for all three books is $90. Sold to @rdp collectibles! Brave and the Bold #42 I'm calling this a VG/F, just to be safe. Complete, with all staples firmly attached. Brave and the Bold #43 I'm calling this a VG, just to be safe. Several stains on the back that do not bleed through to the inside of the back cover or the rest of the book. Complete, with all staples firmly attached. Brave and the Bold #44 I'm calling this a G, just to be safe. Cover is completely detached. Chipping along the left-hand side of the back cover. I believe that this book was manufactured without a top staple, as I can see no evidence of staple holes at the top of the centerfold. Complete. Honestly, it looks GREAT when it is bagged and boarded. Remember, I am always willing to negotiate.
