  1. There is a book on Ebay that I am interested in. I would prefer to not state the title. Anyway, it is listed for a very cheap price, but the slab has some broken pieces. I have inserted some pictures below. I can buy this book for less than $90 + tax + $15 for shipping, but to re-holder it would cost $50 + shipping charges both ways. On the other hand, I can buy the same book in the same grade for $125 + tax + $14.90 shipping. Now that I think about it, it seems that purchasing the $125 book would be the better deal financially. What do you think?
  2. If Kirby created Spider-Man, why did he have a tendency to forget to put the spider symbol on both the front and the back of Spider-Man's costume?
  3. I suggest we ask the Franklin Mint.
  4. This means that labels have value - to you and others, but not to everyone. Honestly, if I say I don't care for cheese, it doesn't mean that I hate cheese along with everyone that does enjoy it. It's just not my cup of tea. However, I do resent people who feel that cheese needs to be inserted into every dish. Cheese in lasagna or cheese on nachos, that I can understand. Cheese poured atop pulled pork? That I don't get. I went to Culver's once, and I ordered a tuna salad sandwich. It came with a piece of cheese in the sandwich.
  5. I don't believe, if I say having a label makes no difference to me, that you can equate this with hate. I have some labelled books in my collection, as they were that way when I bought them. If I am interested in a particular book, whether it has a custom label has no influence on my decision.
  6. Fantastic Four #19 CGC 5.5 from Ebay. I now have Fantastic Four #1 - #20 in CGC cases. I will try to post a group photo this weekend.

  8. The very first OP started this thread by stating his opinion, which was OK, because you agreed with his point of view. Soon after, another post was made by someone stating his opinion. This was blasphemy, because you didn't agree with his point of view. So, in the future, we need to understand that we are allowed to post our opinions as long as you agree with them, right? Here are some "facts" for you: 1) Some people think the "special" labels make a book more desirable; 2) Some people don't care about "special" labels; 3) Stating that you don't care about "special" labels doesn't mean that you are carping on what someone else likes. I would suggest that you stop practicing your home-spun sociology, and stop inferring things from what people write.
  9. He, and I, use this forum because we are interested in CGC services. I can't speak for the original poster, but the labels are not important to me, and they never will be. You know, if I didn't know any better, I would think that you are telling other people what to do.
  10. Except for Song of the South.
  11. He, in no way, told anyone what they should and not should collect. If you want to infer that from his simple statement, that is on you.
  12. You know, if this is the worst thing that happened to you this month, I would say that you have had a pretty good month.
  13. First off, I would like to say that I am sorry that you don't find the commission satisfying. As for me, I had Steve Rude do a cover recreation based on Tales of Suspense #80, which is pictured below. His recreation had very little debris flying around. Also, he did a photocopy of the logo of the book (understandable), but he put an additional CCA stamp on the artwork. I was very disappointed with the piece. I kept it for a while, but I finally said, "Phooey." I sold it for 50% of what I paid for it on Ebay. I have had many other commissions done by other artists: Metal Men #1 by Mike Esposito, Flash #117 by Joe Giella, Brave and the Bold #66 by Ramona Fradon, Spectre #1 by Tom Mandrake, Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 by Pat Olliffe, Justice League of America #4 by Jerry Ordway, Showcase #55 and Amazing Spider-Man #16 by Tom Cook, X-Men #4 by Bruce McCorkindale, Tales of Suspense #49 by Bob Layton, and Avengers #7 by Giorgio Comolo. I have been happy with all of them, except the Steve Rude piece. If you would like to see all of my original artwork, go here: Math Teacher's Original Artwork.
  14. Could you please elaborate about the Ewert fiasco? This was before I joined the boards in 2018. Thank you!
