I figured that there wouldn't be a large crowd for the Heritage Auction that ended last night. So, I put in a bid on Tales of Suspense #45 CGC 4.5 and look what happened. Considering that a CGC 4.0 sold for $410 on 04/09/2023, this is a prime example of the adage, "It's better to be lucky than good!" -
Daredevil Annual #1. Complete and all pages firmly attached. I'm calling it a G/VG, just to be safe. Asking price is $30 $20. SOLD to @rdp collectibles! Here are the issues as I see them: * Twelve water drops on front cover, one on the H in Here, six in the DAREDEVIL title, two on Electro, one on the Matador's cape, and one on the Matador's left arm. These drops don't affect the interior pages. * Five water drops on back cover, one large drop on the word KNOW, and a smaller drop on the letters PL, and three very small drops on the box of cards with the bells. These drops don't affect the interior pages. * Minor creasing at the bottom right-hand corner of the front cover. * Crease at bottom left-hand corner of the back cover, which affects several interior pages of the book. * Light foxing on the right-hand side of some pages. * I know that the cover is separated from the spine, but I think that is due to my poor picture-taking skills.

Amazing Spider-Man Annual #3. Complete and all pages firmly attached. I'm calling it a VG-, just to be safe. Asking price is $80 $67.50. SOLD to @rdp collectibles! Here are the issues as I see them: * Significant creasing along the spine of the front cover and back cover, but it doesn't affect any of the pages. * Multiple creases near bottom right-hand of cover, which also affect the first 2 pages of the book. * Fraying at the top and bottom of the spine. * A crease that looks like a subscription crease, except it only affects the top half of the cover. * Some stains that affect the back cover, affecting the left-hand bottom third of the back cover. * 1" tear on pages 13 - 15. * I know that the cover is separated from the spine, but I think that is due to my poor picture-taking skills.

Amazing Spider-Man Annual #2. Complete and all pages firmly attached. I'm calling it a G/VG, just to be safe. Asking price is $70 $57.50. SOLD to @rdp collectibles! Here are the issues as I see them: * 2" spine split at bottom of cover. * Significant creasing on front cover near the spine. * Small tear near top of spine. * Significant creasing on bottom left-hand corner of back cover, which also affects the last 2 - 3 pages of the book. * Approximately 1" tear that affects the first 4 pages of the book * Crunch of the bottom right-hand corner of the front cover, which also affects the first 6 pages of the book.

I have really been enjoying your posts in this thread. However, I think you're beating a dead horse by continuing to write this at the beginning of every issue recap. It's quite clear where your allegiances lie. However, I'm not disputing anything that you are writing. I just think it's getting a little monotonous.

Seller sold an incomplete book to me - How would you respond?

I can see your point about the time frame. I still think a refund, not necessarily a FULL refund, is in order. -
Seller sold an incomplete book to me - How would you respond?

I agree 100% with this. If the seller failed to count the pages and the buyer failed to count the pages, why is the buyer the only one that is facing any repercussions? I do agree that the seller should eat the cost of having the book graded. -
Seller sold an incomplete book to me - How would you respond?

This same thing happened to me last year, and everyone blamed me for the problem. Yes, in hindsight, I should have counted the pages. However, the seller should bear some of the responsibility. It is the seller's responsibility to provide a product free from defects, especially if the book sells for $400+. Here's why I feel that way. Let's say I go to Walmart to get a tire replaced. For whatever reason, several of the lug nuts don't get tightened properly. On my way home, due to some bumpy roads, the lug nuts get sheared off and I cause an accident. If we follow the rationale of everyone here on the boards, I am at fault because I didn't inspect the tire prior to driving home. But honestly, the majority of the board members here would sue Walmart for the damages, and, in all likelihood, win the suit. I don't understand the reasoning that there should be no repercussions for a seller who sells a defective product. -
Well, @Beardown post from above has certainly rained on my parade, I am still quite happy to have completed my IH #1 - #6 run.
