  1. Commicconnect still hasn't shipped books I won a month ago, might sit this one out 😄 A beat to dirt 1st buck rogers just went for 550 on ebay, curious what a nice copy will go for.
  2. My mom loves Erle Stanley Gardner so I pick her up a book sometimes while out traveling for work. She's read most of his stories, but I was sure such a goofy fun title would be new to her, but she'd already read it and was surprised at how expensive it was. I'd hate for her to see what I spend on comics 🥺
  3. Yet another reason for a road trip. So many great shops over the mountains 😀
  4. Just got in a jungle book, I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure half the book is missing...
  5. I kinda want to get fun scarce things like the wagon if they're at a good price, and the biggest thing stopping me is storage. Maybe it's my generation, but I move a lot, so amassing things is very off putting because I know I'm going to have to keep packing and moving it. If space wasn't an issue, I'd have rooms full of books and toys.
  6. Always a joy to see pulps in the wild. Antique mall in rural idaho.
  7. Depends, people will pay a silly amount for a bronze age book with a certain stamp.
  8. Often times I misjudge what a book might go for. I see a book I want, auction has it at say $20, bookery has it at say $40, I toss a $60 bid at it and then forget about it for a week. Then I see it went for $200 but I still want it and can't find another for sale 🤪 Luckily i rarely spend more than 30 or so on a book and very rarely sell anything, so future market trends don't really affect me.
  9. Some new arrivals. My first Shadow! Trimmed, unfortunately, but the pages are supple.
  10. Then I have some f̶a̶d̶e̶d̶ variant Wierd Tales you'll love 😉
  11. My first Mundy story, The Adventures of El-Kerak. I think I might just read it online, as this book feels pretty fragile. Were staples not used in this series in the early 20s? Book is firmly held to the binding, but I cant find the staples to save my life.
  12. This conversation reminds me of a batman collectibles book I got as a kid. Pages and pages of the coolest and rarest batman toys. And a generic painting of batmans logo by Warhol with the captain "This painting is worth more than all the toys in this book combined.
  13. Ditto. I'd love if comics crash, I'd go on a shopping spree
  14. Wasnt sure,, was thinking an ink pen still in the well,, or that old oil can think you sometimes see in old cartoons. I checked with my mom, who reads tons of old detective fiction, and she instantly said ice pick, so I'll go with that 😄
  15. Every time I hear MOS 1, my mind conjures up this infinitely better cover. I have some of those other MOS 1's from the mini series, and it's just painful to look at them when this golden god of a book exists.
  16. Too true. There are a couple rare books I'm still looking for, and I don't mention them anyway because even a single other person looking for the book could price me out D: There's also a certain pulp I want, and I thought about writing to some of the bigger pulp dealers to see if they have it, but I don't want them to triple the price if they do.
  17. 308 on ebay. I could have sworn I saw another copy of this book recently, but I searched and searched and cant find it for sale anywhere else atm
  18. I'm curious if there was a brief slowdown in movie attendance or production out during the early part of the war that also might have pushed the entertainment dimes towards books for those still stateside.
  19. I saw a detective book last night where a guy was getting dragged to a guillotine, and had the thought "if he was in a bikini you could add another zero to the price of the book"
  20. and 1 submarine stories, sitting there, the price of a jet ski, taunting me
