Same problem as the others I posted. Insect damage at top L cover going all the way through. About a 4 inch tear to staple, but staples are intact and cover holds. Rough top edge. Water staining back top cover. Thoughts? Thanks!

I'm posting a few of these to get your opinions on the chunks chewed out by (I'm guessing) bugs back in the day. Here is what I see as well. Damage at top left cover from damage on back. I had to press this back into shape. Some water damage back and front top covers. Insect damage top corner back cover through book. Thoughts?

Both staples intact and holding cover. 1/2 corner chuck bottom right front cover. Rough edging along cover wrap. Insect damage top corner back cover. Thoughts?

PGM Silver Surfer #4 -- GRADE IS IN
JRibble replied to Slyde's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Looks good! One of my favorite covers of all time and an issue I'd like to get some time. Great job on pressing. I have a stack of square bounds that I will tackle someday once I figure out how to keep the spine from crushing. 6.0 at least on this one. -
Here is the story of this issue. Nov 2002 purchased a couple books from a guy in NY which included this book, Hulk 180, 181, 182, 183, 340, and Iron Fist 14 35 cent variant. He delivered everything but the Amazing Fantasy. Said he couldn't find it. I started a case with Ebay and 4 weeks later this showed up at my door. Paid $3000 for all the books. Think it was a good purchase!

Pulled this out of the bag for the first time in 20 years to really check it out. Cover is rough but complete. 1.5" tear at bottom staple goes all the way through the book to back cover. Tried to get a picture of the centerfold staples but after some time spent looking from both sides I don't even see staples. Book is very flat, almost like it was crushed especially around the spine which might be why the pages and cover aren't detached? Anyway your thoughts would be appreciated.

PGM New Teen Titans #2 ***Graded update***
JRibble replied to sevans1979's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Wow! I love that cover. -
I think the blue would have to be cleaned using wet cleaning techniques. Agree it doesn't look like a full ink stain. As the book presents right now 3.5. After a good clean and press could be a 5. If interested in a C&P PM me.

3.0 I've been working on a lot of this era recently. Nice find.

Picked this up at a local antique/memorabilia shop. Not a war guy but still liked DC stuff in the 70's like GI Combat. Pretty nice book. I have cleaned and pressed it. Still lots of spine ticks, but presents well. Back cover is as white as it will ever get! Your thoughts on the grade are appreciated.

Picked this up at a local antique/memorabilia shop. Many defects associated with well worn comics of this era (as far as I know, this is the oldest one I now have)! Still overall intact and readable. I have cleaned and pressed it. Last 3 pics show how it came with writing on the front, and a big crease and pen writing on the back. Your thoughts on a grade would be appreciated.

Hello! It has been a while since my last post but life takes you in different directions sometimes...Wanted to share this and get some grade ideas. From what I see: 1. Chunk out of lower right cover and at Watcher's foot 2. A lot of wear on front spine and along top 3. Back cover is good 4. Staples are loose but pages/cover are not detached. I took close ups of staples. At some point someone taped them both. I cut as much as I could off (there was about an inch long piece on each. 5. Book has been dry cleaned and pressed as best as possible. I don't want to attempt any wet cleaning due to the condition of the paper stock. Please share your thoughts on the issue and grade. Would it be a CGC candidate? I was thinking of selling it as is. Thanks all!

Nice grade and it is a great looking book! Congrats!

Just C&P'ed 3 of these issues. Would put yours in the 4.5 area as well.

PGM Tales to Astonish 90, 1st Abomination
JRibble replied to brownies8701's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
I've been working through this era book (Tales of Suspense) for a while now. Yours looks great. A C&P will really help out with the roll and some creases maybe getting you 6.5 to 7? -
I love the cover of this book, so powerful! I would estimate this as a 6.0 but you can improve it with a press to get the spine tics out. A light clean first of course.

I like this cover due to the depiction of Washington DC in the background. Marvel characters didn't get out of NY much back in the day so this is kind of unique. Some wear top L front cover, back cover some fading. Overall pretty nice! Appreciate the feedback. Thanks!

Looks great. 9.6? I always loved Tom Grummett's art. Underrated for sure!

This came with a few other books from Ebay. I've been working on getting them cleaned up. This one looks pretty good. Would appreciate thoughts on grade! Thanks much!
