Or it could probably also have been nothing more than a case of Danny (like any other dealer) trying to flip a book to Fishler since I believe that Metro must have been one of the more high profile and up and coming dealers at the time.  (shrug)

Either way, it looks like you should have stuck with the original deal with Danny in this one particular case.  Especially since you would most likely be ahead with the beat up restored Bat 1 considering the way that GA keys have moved over the past 30+ years, as compared to the pre-hero books which have certainly been nothing to write home about.  hm

True but had I kept either comic it would have gone up in flames in my 1997 house fire with all my other comics.

  2. Back around 1987 I traded Danny a New Comics 1 that would have graded VF for a Bat 1 in FA/G. At that time New Comics 1 was nowhere to be found and Bat 1 was everywhere. When I got the Bat 1 it was really a piece of restored garbage that could be called poor.

When I contacted Danny to return the Bat 1 and get my comic back he was good with the return. Later that day I get a call from Steve Fishler offering me $1800 for the New Comics 1 so I accepted. I guess they worked deals together at that time.

Really cool items on display!! It's funny how my eye was drawn immediately to two fairly nondescript things in particular: the Crawford's Encyclopedia of Comics (second shelf from bottom) and the Johnson and Smith catalog on the shelf above that next to the Batmobile.

Other goodies abound like the Comix reference and the Signet Batman paperbacks and more...  (thumbsu

Thanks! You have a sharp eye. All the Signet Batman books came in a collection from Oklahoma 15 years ago. The 1950 edition of Johnson Smith Novelty catalog was the go to back in the day when you didn't have Spencer Gift stores around.

What better thread than a Robot Man thread to show off my Robots? My 1st Robot purchase was about 9 years ago and while I don't actively search for them if I ever buy a comic collections that has toys I always wind up buying the Robots if they have any. They're just so dang cool I can't bring myself to part with them.

Supes isn't really my thing but I do love the WWII / flag covers.  Plus I think these are kinda neat based on being used by stores to keep kids busy while Mom shopped.  Anyone have any thoughts on Superman-Tim in general?  What do the GA Superman collectors think?  I just picked these 2 up in the CL auction...couldn't resist.

Those were mine and I'm glad a boardie got them. Congrats.

  6. Here's my thoughts.

Buyer would have lost the PayPal case. If you ship it to correct address provided by PayPal even without signature as long as it shows delivered you're good. Even if delivered to wrong house by mistake. If PayPal required signature because of item value then get signature confirmation.

I had such a case less than 5 months ago. $150 book showed delivered and Paypal rejected his claim.

I also live in a rural area where I know by name the 2 people that work at my post office and they are always friendly and helpful.

The tracking they do now is GPS monitored here also.

The dealers were Stephen Ritter (who caught the guy) and Dale Robert's. Dale said he was missing a few books but I think they got most everything back. The guy was stealing stuff with his kids in tow. Ridiculous.

Ritter has some serious cameras at his booth. Hey I wonder if this guy knows where my AF 15 is that was stolen at last Wiz Chicago? hm

    Glad this insufficiently_thoughtful_person was caught.
