  1. I appreciate your info! I usually don’t notice it but this was substantially more than most so I was curious:)
  2. A real amateur? I was just curious is all but having read some other threads, the consistency on older books seems to vary a lot.
  3. True. It is the right length but the width seems almost an inch off which seemed a lot.
  4. The puzzling thing is that I see a copy online for sale and it appears there is a tiny bit more artwork visible along the leading edge. Not enough to make match the size of the Terrifying Tales though. I have also seen pics that look similar to my copy so I’m confused...
  5. Got this book recently and when comparing to some other GA books I noticed it is significantly thinner. I have set it over top of a copy of Terrifying Tales 12 for reference. I am no pro so am wondering if it has been trimmed or if Harvey books are a bit thinner from this time. The back picture has me feeling it’s trimmed for sure though. Thanks!
  6. I’m always wary of people like this. Sounds like he wants a guaranteed deal. I also would say 5.5-6.0 and would air on the lower side to keep everyone happy.
  7. Am I disqualified if I secretly send @flashlites one of his missing issues thus eliminating another and improving my odds
  8. Thanks all for the replies! Also are Harvey books traditionally smaller than other Golden Age titles? I just noticed how much thinner it is compared to some other GA books I own.
  9. I enjoy a good focaccia! And even if I was the only one I’d still eat it:) If you enjoyed doing it then it was worth it!
  10. Well put. If no one has ever thanked you for the research you’ve done, let me say thank you. As someone who has recently within the last five years started to venture into the niche world, learning stuff about price variants and NDI and MJ inserts. It is great stuff and I think it is a good thing if Canadian price copies get interest so that someone can take on that bit of history.
  11. I just see a lot of people on sites and others social media platforms really trying to upsell Canadian price comics. To my knowledge it was not like this ten years ago. Oh sure I’m sure a handful of collectors were buying them but probably weren’t paying much more at all for them. They money thing and looking “normal” makes cents though.
  12. This may rub people the wrong way but to me a 9.4 is as good as a 9.8 so I dont see the point in paying multiples more just to not have one spine tick or slightly blunted corner.
  13. I understand this hobby has many niches which is great but this one seems on the rise and I’m curious...why the love for Canadian price covers? And moreover why has there always been ZERO love for UK/Pence copies of older Marvel books? As a Canadian, I can walk into any comic shop here and thumb through back issues and find these CPVs. Granted they aren’t always on key issues but they certainly exist and can be found. Is this the same for collectors in the UK with older books? I mean surely they aren’t as plentifully being from the Silver and Bronze Age? Or are they? Why then do collectors turn their noses up at keys with UK pricing on them while paying up for Canadian price variant keys? I would assume the UK stuff is much much more scarce (I need someone overseas to confirm this though). It just seems odd to me and a bit backwards....
  14. Wondering what the apparent bit of rust on the bottom staple would render this one, along with the discolouring shown, amongst other minor defects. Thanks!
  15. I’d venture 9.2-9.4 myself. It’s a very clean sharp copy!
  16. That’s ridiculous. They obviously did it for the other guy on ebay. To me this reeks of some grader getting a book that doesn’t matter (in their eyes they probably like what is this even being sent in for). So they just glance at it and say “hmm 7.0”, and move on. Which is wrong. They should make sure none of this is paid for on your part and that you get a free submission. I hope this happens because I wanna see where this falls, assuming you sell it. Is it a $100 book? Several hundred? Does it get to $1000? I’m curious.
  17. I see the same and think safely it’s a 7.0 with a press maybe hitting 7.5
  18. Putting ads in local things like Craig's List? Checking out garage/estate sales? Buying raw comics on this site and Ebay? Buying raw from local comic book stores? ^^^^All of these
  19. I message the seller and tell them thanks but offer it up as friendly advice that it could go south if shipping is done like this in the future. Just say comic fans can be picky and rightfully so. From there, I would leave positive or at worst, neutral feedback. But probably positive. If the seller is newer, I usually give a break. Plus, the book isn't a very expensive one. If someone was selling something of great value (say $100 or more) and it arrived like this, my tone (and liklihood of neutral feedback) would be much higher.
  20. This was mine. I was branching out into more Marvel as I had only been a Spidey guy. Earlier FF books were expensive by my standards but this was early and had a first appearance according to my Overstreet Guide. I was sixteen or so. As for oldest, def this one
  21. Let’s go $30 on the Rangers Comics 60 and $40 on the Apache Massacre and see if they can sell before tomorrow!
