  1. Deadpool with a helmet. But I think we need to applaud Rob for finally drawing a pair of feet.
  2. There are forty for ten bucks so I’m just trying to arrange to get them now:) will post pics when I do
  3. To me these seem like unused stock or something because there is not price in the corner...
  4. I just enjoy old advertising related to comics. Store displays, spinner racks, cardboard ads. Anything from back in the day.
  5. You picked the right copy. I’d grade the bottom one 6.5-7.0
  6. That’s fine I was just offering an opinion since one of your posts mentioned it being potentially worth a good amount. That implied potential sale to me that’s all As for rarity, you said there one more graded. Raw collectors will have to check their runs and chime in but it’s by no means common.
  7. 7.0-7.5 from me. Looks to be dust shadow along the bottom. Spine has dings, appears to be crease near the circular loop in the webbing and then the back cover tear. If you paid less than $40, you did just fine. If you paid more, well...jury is out.
  8. Blue Star Wars 9.4 copies have been selling under $100. Maybe with the error you can eek out $125. I think hoping for more is dreaming. Mind you, if you sell for $1000 I will happily admit I was wrong.
  9. Or what about the Amazing Spider-Man Annual 1 that had blank covers? At any rate, in terms of this being a "very rare" error....ok, sure. But valuable? It's like the issue of Marvel Spotlight with Captain Marvel that is missing the issue number and the guy on ebay trying to sell his copy of DC Comics presents with a FF interior. To me, both are fun but worth more than an actual copy? In the case of the Marvel Spotlight, maybe I pay $1-2 more for the novelty of that error. Plus it is common. For a cover on a wrong book from an opposing publisher? Cool, maybe I pay $100 more to own something that unique. This falls somewhere in there but closer to the Marvel Spotlight type error than the wrong cover for the wrong company type, if that makes sense. And again, you gotta find the guy who has to have it. 99% of guys completing a Star Wars run will want to pay market or less for their copy of 107. Why would they pay more for an oddball that appears the same from the outside? They won't. You need to find the oddball error comic collector and maybe, just maybe, you make a little more than your standard Star Wars 107 CGC 9.4 Blue.
  10. Yeah, the pieces of paper that is punched out is still there wrinkled up in the centrefold, if that makes sense. Like if someone wanted to using something fine, you could grab that piece of paper and glue it back in place and the hole would be covered up (don't worry....never going to do that). But I did not think it was common like the tears at the bottom of book pages from this era.
  11. Seems fair. I wonder if CGC would catch it. Sadly, I don't grade books. Only personally for my records, but thought it was a weird tear and wondered if any had seen one there before by chance.
  12. Right? But does it still grade a 7.0-7.5? I mean, maybe if it was not there, it is a 7.5 book. With it 7.0? Or worse?
  13. It's cool. Is it cooler than a 9.2 regular? Maybe but you will have to find that ONE guy and I wish you luck. Personally, since I cannot see the defect, I would never know it is there. If I am a defect collector guy (and I have a few things in the PC like interior printing errors, double covers, etc.) I want that raw so I can show and share and see it. This you will never see again unless ya crack it.
  14. So I have this copy of UXM 121 that is in the 7.0-7.5 range by mine estimate. However it has this flaw inside. It’s just the one page. Production flaw? Does it ding the book down any? Thoughts are much appreciated. Just wondering how this would compare to say an interior page rip.
  15. A press and a clean might get a bump to 5.5. I fear the spine wear keeps it from 6.0 (ditto for the spine and corner wear). Press might make it more presentable and a clean should brighten up the back. I would invest in it personally, if I were slabbing this book. If you are keeping to display, it will look its best and if you are selling, it will also get the best grade possible.
  16. I was thinking 6.5 but a 7.0 is not outta the question. Lovely stamp, sad about the small cover dent/ding/hole
  17. This is very hard to understand your meaning. Here is what I am reading... You have older books graded from CGC. Maybe an ASM 194 or a Thor #300? Who knows? You are saying that the grades on these books are "better grades than recent ones in better condition". The "recent ones" to me means recent comics. So you are seeing that your old comics are graded higher than recent comics that, to you, look better? That is not impossible. There are plenty of high graded "older comics" and compared to some "recent ones", it is very possible to have a higher graded Thor #300 than say a copy of Venom #3. Finally, you ask if "pressing ironically makes it harder to get better grades", suggesting you think the invention of pressing is actually hurting comics? Like making it harder to get higher grades? I feel almost 99% confident in saying at worse, a press will maintain the same grade the book would have gotten if unpressed. Actually, sorry, if you are using an amateur presser, there is the chance the book can be damaged. But assuming you go with a professional service or event an extremely competent collector who presses as a side biz and does great work, at WORST, you can have a 9.0 book get pressed and still be a 9.0 book. At best, a slight bump and, in some cases that bump is huge. The only thing that is "up" is a usage of a service that 15-20 years ago was (by my knowledge) not very prominent and now is.
  18. 2.5. Lots of paper stains and rusty staples kill it. Would not be worth it to grade IMO.
  19. 1.5-1.8 from me also. Too much going on and that stain kills it from having 2.0 potential. As for whether to grade, pretty sure 4.0's sell for around $300. My guess is a 1.5-1.8 might sell for around a third of that...maybe?
  20. Good point! I love Union Jack! I think Ima have to dig out some Invaders for reading tonight
  21. So for me, as a fan of the Invaders, I value the Invaders run (and crossovers since its inception) as the most important books to own and the ones I spent money on. Avengers #71 would be a cool add on piece if I found for like $10-20 in decent shape...but I am not ever gonna spend more than that on it. And obviously any Golden Age team ups are true firsts and should be valuable not as being considered "Invaders" tie ins but simply as awesome Golden Age books. Same goes for other retcons. If I find and X-Men 201 (which I have) for under $5, sure. Other than that, don't care enough to have it. But alas, I am one man and one man does not the market make. I feel like it is a lot of under 40 year old collectors who are driving this debate of "true firsts" and pushing the values of things like retcon first appearances, ad appearances and preview appearances to new and bizarre heights. And there are people out there willing to pay for it so can ya blame em? It just sucks in some cases because it can make some completionists feel like "oh, should I get that issue? Am I really missing out?" I had that feeling with Web Of Spidey #18. I was like "it ties in to the Venom origin, I should get it" and I spent $15 on a book that was a super letdown and a laughable tie in to the Venom origin. Plus, to add insult to injury, I found a better copy months later in a collection and basically kept it for free. Lesson is to wait and don't overpay or even bother with a lot of these retcons.
