  1. Yeah but that book isn’t rare enough in my book to warrant investing a bunch to conserve it. That’s just me though if someone loves it enough and wants to do it, cool. I would still likely pay $1000-2000 for a solid 1.5-2.0 book in original condition than spend any more (or even the same amount) for a restored one.
  2. Suppose I pay $1000 for a book that is around a 1.0-1.5 grade wise. I know that I can dump money into it and get it to 6.5-7.0. What I would do is see what a regular 7.0 copy of the issue I bought sells for. Then I take that and cut it in half. This is what my restored copy is worth. If the money I dump in exceeds this value, I wouldn’t bother unless the book was for me and unlikely to ever be resold.
  3. I’m closer to 5.5-6.0, with a press maybe guaranteeing a 6.0. Sweet find!
  4. I’ve had bags that are a bit “poofy” when I tape them up but I just put them in the bin and over a short period of time, the air escapes. After all I only have one piece of tape closing em up so the air does leave...not really a concern for me.
  5. Roses are red CGC labels are blue Ive never submitted comics before So why not through you? (That’s my entry. It’s not flashy but neither am I...I dislike the Flash)
  6. I mean if you don’t have kids, I’ll gladly be adopted and inherit one of those. Just one. Its the big hole in my ASM run from 50-400 missing.
  7. Yeah I’d love to see even though I personally am not a single issue hoarder
  8. I love a number of comics and covers but personally, owning two never made sense to me, let alone multiples. If I get a double I keep the best and sell the other. Too many comics out there to fund to start buying multiples.
  9. That’s definitely a crease on that back cover. No denying it. If it was missed originally, that’s bad. If they caused it, that’s bad. And if somehow your copy was switched with this copy by accident, that’s also bad. Bad all around really. Yet another one for me to file away in the “why I don’t grade” file....
  10. Couple questions on this rack... 1. Any ideas about rough age? Hoping it’s 70s or older. 2. What do these run? 3. How many comics do they hold? Thanks!
  11. I’m afraid I have to back out. I will be at cottage with limited reception for a week then travelling the following week.
  12. Yuck See I know this is in the minority of bad things that happen but it deters me from getting stuff grading. That and I like to read my books. In 20 years of collecting I’ve ruined one book myself with a tape pull and that was when I was 12. I trust myself the most:)
  13. I have a couple of the calendars from Marvel and DC from the 70s. They don’t fit in treasury sized bags and I’m just curious if anyone else has any and how they display them. The artwork and fun facts inside are great and I wanna make sure they are stored well or displayed nicely.
  14. Yeah if you have a bundle but I’m pretty sure this would set ya back $5
  15. 3.5-4.0 Pretty sure detached centrefold has been seen on 6.0 books but those are on Golden age books where they are more lenient. However here, it should still get a blue label as it is in the 4.5-5.0 range at best if the centrefold were attached. Some people hate loose pages and covers. On the right book I’m fine with it. This one seems like a good buy.
  16. 3.0 is where I feel it is. I don’t think press does much honestly.
  17. Year corners have some dings. Def not 9.6-9.8 I think 9.2-9.4 is tops. Not a book I would grade tho
  18. The creases on the front hurt but it’s a very solid mid grade. 4.5-5.0 from me.
  19. Sell raw as I fear pressing, cleaning and grading will not yield enough if any profit. You could put $50 in it to only get $40 extra on the back end.
  20. As someone who has tried to access your site and not been able to since joining these forums I am very excited to do so and continue my learning!
  21. On older books I wouldn’t wear glove. Clean hands are all ya need. Newer glossier books, I have yet to leave a fingerprint on one with clean hands and I’ve tried for personal interest. If my hands are dirty from eating then going outside and doing some exercise and then I touch a comic, I can leave a fingerprint. So even here washing hands is good enough.
  22. It’s amazing how many people look at cover only and say “oh yeah that’s 9.8” but if they were to open the pages they would find a small crease or minute tear somewhere. Sigh. Oh well it’s entertainment. Some unboxers are more interesting and enjoyable to watch than others for sure.
