  1. Pressing it? I think that could definitely get you 3.0-3.5. The back cover would clean up a little nicer.
  2. Congrats! A true grail! Tanning to the back and edges. Some spine stain marks on back and general spine wear. Minor concern...the top edge of the book appears cut off (the IND. is not fully visible). Not sure because I cannot see the edge to guess if it was ever trimmed or if it is just a factory printing defect (I have seen it on other copies, some where the IND. is gone entirely). Assuming no trim, I am comfortably at a 4.5-5.0
  3. Yeah I just search the comic in ebay, select sold items and view what it has actually been selling for. A little more digging is usually required. A CGC graded 9.0 will sell higher than someone selling a raw copy they claim to be in the 9.0 range. If you are curious about a book grade, post pics in the Hey Buddy Can You Spare A Grade forum on here. Generally, the community here is accurate in nailing down a grade. Then, check ebay for CGC sales in similar grades. That way, if and when you get your book graded and if you are selling you have an idea of the value.
  4. New Mutants 98 was CGC signed by Jesus. worth $41 999. The rest combined were worth $1.
  5. Everyone has pretty much explain what the "Not for resale" box means and where it came from (in terms of being packaged with a toy or other item) Most of these comics were reprints of original comics. Certain ones sell on occasion for $10-20, such as reprints of ASM 129, XMen 101, TOS 39, Amazing Fantasy 15. I suppose there is a possible market looking for these as they did come packaged with toys. A lot of kids would have taken the toy and read the comic a lot or even thrown it away. So finding a high grade copy could be hard. That being said, generally these are found in $1-5 bins and don't sell. As most of them came with toys, I would think there would be more value if the comic were still in the package with whatever toy it came with...
  6. Are you looking to sell it? If so, yes grade it Are you looking to keep it but protect it? If so, yes grade it As for grade, more pics would help. I will offer a rough estimate but you can get more responses on the Spare a Grade forum. I think that crease could be pressed out (CGC and others do this for a fee). I think this has 7.0+ potential, provided the back cover is white and not torn or stained. As the above person stated, this book is always a good book to slab and generally will always up the value, regardless of grade.
  7. Bottom edge has some wear. Nice back cover. 8.0-8.5 for me
  8. 5.0-5.5 for me. An accumulation of minor things expected on an older book.
  9. Any thoughts are welcomed and appreciated! And that’s not a stain in the third photo, it’s a weird indent mark on some kind.
  10. Yeah maybe its the lighting but the comics does look faded? Couple spine ticks. 7.5-8.0. Could be higher though if the lighting is just off.
  11. 4.5-5.0 Sucks about that centrefold crease. Breaks colour but I wonder if a good press reduces it any bit. Definitely a strong copy visually still.
  12. 9.4-9.6 Is it bad that I dislike this book? Reminds me of the demise of comics
  13. Unless I am missing something, you have some noticeable wear near the stapled. The top and bottom of the spine are blunted and not as sharp as they could be. 8.5-9.0 is what I see.
  14. I will safely say 4.5-5.0. If there wasn't as much minor wear to the top and bottom on those black edges, you could be looking at an amazing copy, even with the chipping. Still an awesome hard to find book. Nice pick up!
  15. I support Rule 31! A picture of a character before their appearance (like Beta Ray Bill or others in books like Marvel Age or whatever) is not a first appearance. First preview makes sense and hey, some previews I find interesting. Like all of the early black suit Spidey previews. It adds to the story of that costume. However, paying big bucks for those issue is not of interest to me as a collector.
  16. I’ll conservatively say 4.0-4.5. Dunno if those mystery stain marks can be cleaned at all but they would def help.
  17. It’s been pressed. I agree the creasing on the front will likely keep it from a 5.0. 4.5 looks like the best to hope for here.
  18. Definitely press it. After which, I think 4.0 is obtainable. Sucks about that corner....
  19. I feel it is a little lower. Back cover seems dirtied, spine roll seems very noticeable and the crease. 6.5 for me.
  20. Here are my options for my collection: 1) Pass it along. If my son (or future son/daughter) wants them, the comics go to them. 2) If my son and future children decline, I will work to sell the collection. I will probably determine all of this by the time I am 60 or so, giving me enough time to sell off my collection. The money will likely be used partially for myself and my wife, the rest to my children. Perhaps we all take a nice family vacation or something together and then the rest of the money goes to the children. As for stuff that does not sell, I have always thought of mailing out random comics to people who need them. Basically, they cover postage, the book (or books) are theirs. In this way, everything truly finds a good home. This or donating to a school or someplace where they can be enjoyed by the original people they were meant for, kids.
  21. Yup. Everyone from Absorbing man to Zzax could get their own show
