  1. Anyone suggesting this could hit above 7.0 is sillypants That rip, even with tape removed, has it in the 5.0-5.5 range. I would imagine that removing the tape could result in a worse tape pull so for me, not worth the hassle. Avoid any modern (1980 to now especially) books with such rips or tape of any kind if you have aspirations of grading and achieving grades in the 8's and 9's
  2. I went 7.5 before scrolling down because I know GA books get some love...this one def did, great grade. That small chip or rip on leading edge kept me out of VF range outright personally.
  3. As is, I think this warrants around a 2.0. Definitely lots of wrinkles and a press probably is worthwhile here, with a lot of imperfections that can be flattened and greatly improve the appearance and could warrant a 3.0-3.5 afterwards
  4. What is going on with the back top edge of your book? That black should not be there....should look like this
  5. A book missing ANYTHING (pages, coupon, etc) should always come back with a qualified label IMO. I know that is not how it is but I think blue labels should be reserved for complete books only. I would not want to own a blue label 3.0 book with notes saying there is a missing page/cut out/whatever. I know that this is done though on older books and I just personally disagree with it. I also think that a book with an unverified signature should NOT be qualified. I also don't know if giving such a book a blue label makes sense (because you could have a 9.6-9.8 copy with an unverified signature that gets hits hard with a 7.5-8.0 blue label....that stings). I almost wonder if another colour is needed for unverified signatures but that probably is unecessary.
  6. I’m just going to ask because it was the first thing I noticed but….is it the same book? What caught my eye was the amount of white you can see along the spine, where the back cover oh so slightly can be seen on a frontal view. In some of your original pics it looks like it’s pretty nonexistent….but this could just be the angle. I’m just asking is all because that error has happened and, for the life of me, I don’t get how removing a slabbed book and re slabbing it could result in so many minor flaws. I mean I do get how it’s an extremely careless person working to do that that should be at the very least given a performance review.
  7. It’s added to my collection (I have a Spidey and Loki mug) and it’s on point for the superhero vibe I go for in my classroom haha
  8. @1Cools mystery box did not disappoint! Much thanks 🙏 Some DD books I needed among others I don’t have (just one Mokn Knight is a duplicate for me) and a sweet mug to boot!
  9. To me it appears 7.0-7.5 and I would say that while a clean and press might sharpen it up (the back might shine up nicely). So if it is a 7.0, I could see a 0.5 bump and that would be the most. If it is already a 7.5, I am not confident it could garner an 8.0
  10. I agree with the 9.0 based on what I see I also understand CGC modern graders are not as consistent as they should be. Hasn’t affected me personally as most books I have received back I understand the grades given but I certainly know that in hiring new modern graders in the last year, the consistency on 1980-now books has gotten a little wild. I’m personally sticking to pre 1975 books until they get a few years experience under their belt (the new modern graders that is)
  11. My mystery box is almost finished and shall be going out this week!
  12. My wife and I enjoyed Wednesday on Netflix. Much better than what they tried to do with Archie in the Riverdale stuff but the same kinda vibes. Better acting, story and universe though that I enjoyed and hope they produce a second season (although season 1 contains itself)
  13. That much foxing I would personally go 3.5 on any other book.
  14. I agree 5.0 or so def in the cards especially if not staple holes where second one should be. A common manufacturing flaw for the era.
  15. It’s been a few years since I’ve done goals and I found when I did I adhered somewhat. Last couple years I’ve bought a lot and read very little. I wanna change that…so for 2023: 1. Read a minimum 10 comics/mags/trades a month. 10 is doable in my busy life and to go even further I shall chronicle my readings in a thread to a) keep me on track and b) provide some with a little light content if interested 2. Buy ASM 39 and 40. I think I missed the boat on getting each in VG range for under $200. Thus I shall aim to get the best copies possible and save accordingly to do so. 3. Find a way to get John Romitas signature on a book. It’s a raw book, ASM 97 signed by Stan and Gil and I just really would love John to finish off the trifecta. It’s a book I cherish a lot and I know this goal may not be possible but I am going to try
  16. I mean I’m here for my pick now I will take @1Cool mystery box! I forget the prize number 33 according to the list!!
  17. I am here live and would like to pick live @The Sledder
