  1. Great question I will put that in the listing! It measures 12.5 inches by 9 inches
  2. I mean, the fact that two math teachers who collect comics exist seems like some sort of anomaly...someone forgot to carry a two or something!
  3. Yeah not to sound mean but $200 is nowhere near what I would expect to get for all those books pictured. Personally, and this comes from someone who buys and sells frequently enough, if I had all those comics, I would hope for $100 and likely jump at $75 if it came my way. Another indicator is have you had anyone reach out to you about buying them? If the desire isn’t there the value isn’t either. As others have mentioned, a lot of these books are only valuable if they have a first appearance, a double entendre cover or are simply classic old archies from the 50s. This all seems to be 60s and 70s stuff which, while old, does not hold a ton of value.
  4. I went ahead and posted anyway...I also message a mod last week but did not get a reply. If it is not allowed, they can take it down or advise me to and I will do so
  5. Hi everyone, So I have this piece that I know somebody wants or needs more than myself. It is a display sign for the top of an old comic rack of some sort, advertising Archie comics. Now, I have no idea if it is from a spinner rack, a leaning rack or a smaller, counter top display. I have chatted and asked around and no consensus can be had but here is what I know about the piece: It came out of a general store called Webbs in Lac Lu, Ontario. This is a rural area outside of Kenora, ON where there are a lot of cottages and, back in the day, this store served the cottages in the area. This general store closed sometime in the 60's, so that is the first indicator of the age and timeframe of the piece. The second indicator is that in the store at the time of purchase, there was a display stand advertising Little Golden Books for kids and this display piece advertised the cost of these books as 15 cents. So whenever Little Golden Books were sold for 15 cents is around the age of this sign. It is dual sided and in excellent shape (some very light scuffs as seen in the photos). It measures 12.5 by 9 inches. I have tried to research the sign but could not find an image on one. If someone else has one or even info, I welcome you to add it here. I have seen some display signs being asked in various conditions for anywhere from $100-500 or more, depending on the images on them and of course, condition. I am going to ask $200USD shipped. Maybe this is crazy, maybe this is not, I don't know. If you want it and think the price is crazy, talk to me. I am interested in finding it a good home for someone that can use it and display it as it should be. I mean, I won't give it away but I will entertain virtually any offer (including a trade!). Paypal for payment please. If unhappy, I will take a return. Thanks for looking!
  6. I am piggy backing off this question (sorry @Math Teacher hopefully from one math teacher to the next this is ok!) but I also have a comic display sign I would like to sell...would that be ok under miscellaneous?
  7. The rippling is common on these books. I have a Giant Size ASM issue that looks the same. A good press should fix As for grade, my biggest concern is the edges of the book. Is it just contact dirt? If so, cleaning will do a long way to brightening the white and possibly gettin you in that 8.0 range. Otherwise, I am at a 6.5-7.0 as is.
  8. I am also safely gonna say 5.0-5.5. The fading and bottom of the spine put it there.
  9. As for grading, blurry pic and no back pic = very hard to grade.
  10. You can remove the sticker pretty easily. I have done before but with practice. Going very very slow is important, and also a tiny amount of rubbing alcohol (on a q-tip and gently rubbed over the sticker), has helped me to remove stickers I did not like. Generally though, using a razor or even a good fingernail to gently lift one corner and then sloooooooooooooooooowly (and I mean, I have taken 10 minutes to remove a sticker thats how slow I move) pull it off....it can be done sans colour loss. Interior pages are worse, usually you always lose colour there if removing something like a sticker because of the non-glossy paper.
  11. 1.5-1.8 from me. Reminds me of the shape my FF6 is in. Rough but all there and still a great book to have! Wanna trade
  12. Yeah 9.4-9.6 although it is hard to tell without close ups of spine. Classic example of a back cover that could hide some wear/ticks unless zoomed in or held in hand.
  13. As is, 5.0-5.5. Clean it and I think 6.0 is possible
  14. I have a display wall I change up often. Plus I’m in the process of reading and cataloguing stuff so I would say every other day at least I’m “playing” with my books. It’s a great enjoyment of mine. Even bigger key books I’ll just look at from time to time, maybe snap a pic to share with ya all:)
  15. Def in the 9.4 realm, a 9.6 would not shock me. And I never give a 9.8 because I don't trust myself grading over the interwebs
  16. Also, for a lot of collector's a COA means nothing. I mean, I have one with my Stan signature. It came with it when he signed it. Doesn't mean it can't or has never been faked. I just keep for my own piece of mind but really it is worthless. And I would expect that if I ever did sell the book he signed, I would not be asking as much as a book graded by CGC or even insert other company who may or may not be decently reputable here.
  17. If you want a million percent guarantee that the signature is authentic, CGC signature series comics If you want a most likely 100% guarantee that the signature is authentic, there is another grading company If you want realtive safety but still some risk, look for people selling with COAs. Stan signed a LOT of stuff. You can compare his signature to others and likely confirm to yourself it is his (and yes this appears to be him, likely within the last decade as it appears to be a "newer" signature". But the chance exists that someone got great at copying him and did it to up the value. If the person checks out (maybe gives a decent story of how and where it was signed and if the story matched up with a con or wherever that he was actually at), you can probably buy with certainty it is his
  18. Yeah, I see couple ticks on back and front of spine. A 9.2-9.4 due to this .
  19. Came across this for sale...I have no idea if it’s old or new or a repro. It apparently came out of a general store. Figured the folks here could enlighten me! UPDATE: Came out of a closed up store, along with a little golden books display rack/shelf advertising the little golden books for sale at 15 cents...so maybe this is from around the 60's/70's?
  20. I was feeling 9.4ish before scrolling down...great grade! That book was sharp!
  21. I agree with your confusion about Kraven as an antihero...look, I think he is part of one of the best Spidey stories ever told but outside of that, I would argue he is borderline a B or C list villain...
  22. That series was hot then not...is it getting love again? I bought the entire run for $10 2 years ago.
