  1. I would still send. Some people on here tend to really downgrade for "production" flaws and if this is one, it will hardly factor into the grade. Consider that there are 8.0-9.0 books where people have neat written marker on the front cover and you can be assured that even if that mark is NOT production related, it will not hurt much. As for grade...couple spine ticks, and that bottom of spine ding/minute crease are the biggest flaws I see. 9.0-9.2 would not be crazy here at all. Yours looks better than the copy I submitted which has a couple more ticks and a small edge crease and I am expecting 7.5ish so I highly doubt yours would be in the same range.
  2. Yeah the pics were good for in the bag pics but out of the bag and on a flat surface is generally best. Looks 6.5 to me. .Some light general wear and pen on cover. A press could get you a smidge higher even with pen mark.
  3. Yeah def silverfishy nibblets 3.0 tops. Rodent and insect chews get hit hard and those are plentiful.
  4. This is what I was leaning towards. The fading hurts it plus the severity of those "tear spine breaks" might mean 3.0 is where it falls regardless of a clean to the back cover (and front) and a press.
  5. Oh and don’t forget two mystery books are going in! You can guess what they are when the time comes Clues? You’ll get a kick out of one of them. The other? It’s quite cheeky. Get caught staring and you might be shot!
  6. Only this week left to help me pick the books folks! Let’s gooooooo
  7. Hobby also hold a special place in my heart. As a kid, he was the first "goblin" I was introduced to via the 90s cartoon, which for me (and this includes a viewing of all episode within the last 5 years) holds up as the best Spidey cartoon ever. The fact that they did it all without Spidey ever throwing a punch amazes me and it still comes off looking like nothing is amiss. They played with canon a bit, sure, but wove an entertaining story that allowed one to see every single Spidey villain one could have wanted....and maybe a few more often than we would have liked
  8. 238 for me. That purple and orange cover...dynamite. Plus a completely original cover No disrespect to 252, but it is a hum drum homage. Important moment and book, sure, but from an artistic standpoint there is no contest in my eyes. Add in that I feel Hobgoblin is a foe that took what Green Goblin was and amped it up for the time, and it is 238 hand down.
  9. Also, the page that appears to poke out on the back image is just a miscut page. It is not detached and falling out of the book.
  10. Wondering what you clean and press pros think is possible with this book? I feel like the back could clean up greatly but am unsure if it would affect the overall grade. Here are the notes: -light staining to cover -moderate bends to cover -moderate spine stress lines to cover -multiple tear spine breaks colour
  11. Thanks for allowing me to even see this book! Congrats to seller and buyer
  12. A store stamp from Edmonton Book Store! Any western Canadians know of the place??
  13. Perfect. I have a chunk of hieroglyphics from a pyramid that I Um inherited. That’s a comic right? Pictures with words that tell a story? It’s foreign so I would expect you charge more....
  14. Yeah 6.0-6.5 seems good. Lower would be too harsh IMO.
  15. This is why I snapped pics/video before I sent off mine. Just in case a book comes back damaged or looking very much not like I sent it in.
  16. I have a comic hallway and corner for my shelves in the basement (they are disguised well and look like nice neat shelves to company). As for spending, I tell her about large purchases that require me to spend our money. She knows I will sell stuff to make it back. In terms of how much of our actual money I spend on comics, it is maybe $60-100 a month...not enough for her to care, as it is my only hobby and real expediture on myself outside of clothes when needed. The hobby funds itself for the most part. She cares zilch about them. I love her Now...my secret master plan once the kids are old is to slowly take over the basement. I have hinted at this and she shakes her head and says "yeah right" but I think I can make it happen in the future!
  17. My friend lives within the same province but a good 12 hours from me. I had him pick me up a run of Vampirella (missing 3 random issues), a run of Epic Illustrated, a complete DC Shadow run and a bunch of Dr. Strange comics from his 70's series (plus some other random goodies including a statue). Will share here once it is in my possession!!!!
  18. Appears to be this (the one on the left) which I believe came out in 1983.
  19. Interior page colouring is affected by storing conditions. Temperature and that sort of thing and it affects pages more than the cover because the covers were glossy, pages not so much. Plus (and not that it has happened on your book) but one could dry clean a white book to look really sharp. Looks fine to me as well!
  20. I have seen 0.5 copies that, despite all the flaws, I would not mind owning. I have seen 1.0 copies that appear way worse but because of certain flaws, they make it to 1.0 Usually people take the highest grade but when it comes to 0.5-1.8, I would think it is all about presentation first. Like that 1.0 Blue Bolt is awesome looking. Would love that!
  21. The thing with most pedigrees is the books from them were high grade. Now, definitely could be possible that certain pedigrees once has books that were sold off during the owner's lifetime and passed through hands and became damaged...possible, but less likely. Plus eve if a collector had another copy and sold this one, it likely would have went to another collector and maintained strong condition. Combine this with the fact that the markings don't match any existing pedigrees and what you have is just grease pencil marks. You would be surprised how often collectors would mark their books in some way. I have seen lots, including a lady who used a stamp of a girl and a dog on the inside cover of her comics to denote them as hers. It was common back in the day....so while not a pedigree, the markings were probably used on other comics the owner of this book waay back once had.
