  1. I will start with the brief descriptions and then post the scans/photos.

Marvel Zombies #1 - Front cover: a bit of waviness (right side of Spiderman - see photos) and a slight indentation on spine which I believe are both a production flaw. The waviness is not quite as bad as the photos make it look. They are not bends in the cover. Back cover: corner crunch with some surface impressions (upper right corner), otherwise very nice & clean.

Marvel Zombies #1 (Variant Edition) - Nice copy. No major issues.

Marvel Zombies #1 - (4th Printing) - Front cover: slight bend in book (upper right corner), small color fleck (upper left, spine). Back cover: spine tic (lower right corner).

Marvel Zombies #2 - Front cover: a bit of waviness similar to issue 1.(right side of Spiderman - see photos). Back cover: no major issues.

Marvel Zombies #3 - Front cover: very slight production waviness like issue 1. Back cover: no major issues.

Marvel Zombies #4 - Front cover: very small 1/4” dent/bend in Angel’s wing under the M in ZOMBIES. Back cover: no major issues.

Marvel Zombies #4 (2nd Printing) - Front cover: slight stacking curl in spine. Back cover: color fleck (middle left open edge).

Marvel Zombies #5 - Front cover: very small less than 1/4” dent/bend under the Z in ZOMBIES. Back cover: no major issues.

Marvel Zombies - Army of Darkness #1 - Front cover: small spine bend/tic (middle spine). Back cover: no major issues.

Marvel Zombies lot - Asking $80 shipped CONUS

Nice, glossy copies. Most of these are in the VF/NM range, a couple may be higher grade. I will note any major issues I see in my brief descriptions below.

***Please note: a few of these have a bit of waviness on the cover which appears to be production related. Please see the photos I took of issue #1 which shows what I am trying to describe. I put issue 1 in the PGM thread and the couple responses I received also seemed to think it was production or distribution related. I still believe they would fall in the VF/NM range. I have never had a book pressed, but two people mentioned it.

The waviness is not quite as bad as the photos make it look. They are not bends in the cover.
The indentation on the spine does look like that. None of the other books has this problem.

Over the moon on this very high grade copy of the November 1934 Weird Tales with the conclusion of "The People of the Black Circle" that arrived today. I have a nice copy of the September opener but still would like to hunt down the October middle issue.

  4. Phantom Stranger 14 - 7.5/8.0 - OW to slightly cream pages
    $80 shipped CONUS

Honestly, I feel that this is much closer to 8.0 than 7.5. Please look at the scans. Trying to be conservative and not let my love of this cover influence my grading.

Defects are - front cover: slight diagonal bend (lower left), two very small (1/64” or less) chips/tears (middle right side open edge - to the right of Phantom Stranger’s head), spine stress at top staple that slightly breaks color and a few other slight spine tics. Back cover: looks nice, slight creaminess and also a very small chip (1/64” or less, lower left corner open edge). The inside covers also have a similar color (slightly off-white or cream) as the back cover.

Yep, me too. Just got the winning bidder notification on a book I won and already paid for 5 days ago. As soon as I receive the book I am going to contact them to close my account. There are a lot of other venues for buying and selling funny books including here on the boards.

They have lost my confidence and trust.

  7. I really don't like trying to grade modern books. I have some Marvel Zombies books that all have similar problems. I believe it's just production issues, but I'm wondering if these "flaws" lower the grade.

Unfortunately, it's really difficult to pick up in scans, so I'm hoping that my description and some slightly blurry photos I took with my phone will work.

Essentially, several of the covers have a slight waviness to them which I believe is something to do with production. The vertical waves/lines are evenly spaced apart which is why I believe it's production. In addition, several (if not all) of the books have an vertical indentation near the spine which also looks intentional to me.

My question is, do these issues lower the grade?

Thank you in advance to anyone kind enough to reply and help me with this.

Here are the scans of the front and back and photos I took trying to hold the book with one hand and take a photo with my phone in the other.

Holding book up to bright light to show waviness in cover. Mostly just in the spot.

Indentation near spine. Is this intentional or a flaw?
