  1. Back to this theme. For those that have culled is ebay the way to go? The thing I am thinking of selling is a WWBN unpressed cgc 9.6. The thing is I am in no hurry to sell it but with the prices as they are it may be time. One got almost $12000 in December. That is insanity.
  2. It is a book on Coollinesartwork (http://www.coollinesartwork.com/featured.asp?Piece=304300)
  3. I am interesting in a page but am hesitant as it would be the first 'expensive' page I have ever purchased. It is an Adam Hughes Page but it seems odd to be the DC label and cumber is on the sheet? Is this normal? When I see newer work the art is essentially a virgin cover.
  4. I see the book going for over $12,000 on ebay but I can't imagine it getting that. That would be insanity!
  5. Just again I wanted to say thanks for the advice. I am not afraid to say that I am a bit apprehensive about buying my first 'expensive' piece of art as I pull books together for trade. I am going to be looking for an Adam Highes, Frank Cho or Giordano piece. I realize it may be a long shot but I figure the WWBN 32 CGC 9.6 (unpressed) is a decent starting point. Again thanks all 👍
  6. Thanks for the advice and stories. I will put together some books and start a thread on the comic art page.
  7. Silly quesiton from a new (relatively) OA collector. Is it common to trade comics for art? I have a bunch of books and could go sell them but I wondered if direct trades were common. I have some good books (WWBN #32 CGC 9.6) for example that would fetch a pretty penny but would rather trade. If this question is a bit too simplistic for the boards feel free to lock it down and erase it.
  8. Thanks. I didn't know who Alison was until you gave me a name to work with. I also barely use Facebook but I got it all worked out.
  9. I had heard that Adam Hughes brought newer covers to recent shows (WW 750 for example). Did anyone catch the prices? They don't seem to be on his website.
  10. He has ignored requests for a while. I am always amazed at the shoddy business practices of the OA sales community (not all but enough).
  11. I really appreaciate the various viewpoints people shared. In reading and contemplating I think it simply comes down to the chase. Once I have the run completed it just collects dust. While this is fine, I am finding I don't have the same emotional attachment I had with the books when they seemed like an accomplishment. There are a few I simply wouldn't sell but it may be time to sell many of them. Great discussion and thanks!🤘
  12. I will have to do this. I have some OA but nothing I am overly attached had to with the exception on a David Finch Wonder Woman character guide. In a perfect world I would just trade books for art but I understand that isn't likely to be common. I have a nice WWBN #32 that is an iunpressed 9.6 I should just put on the OA board and ask for trade offers 🤣.
  13. Wait, wait, wait. You mean I can have my comics, a Corvette and a younger wife? What a great idea! 🤣
  14. I have been seriously collecting comics for 20 years and always enjoyed it. This isn't a post about the state of comics today as I like quite a bit of the newer options. My issue is I met most of my collecting goals and the 'chase' is gone and seemingly a lot of the fun. I have some solid books and am seriously thinking of selling it all and buying a piece or two of origional art. Does this happen often? Is it common for collectors to reset? I don't want to become an accumulator and just start buying things. I have a room with a few hundred slabs that I don't really look at anymore. This could not be any more of a first world problem. 🤣
  15. This is all nice but I just wish they would either be collectors and just put stuff for sale. This nexus uncertainty is weird.
  16. Often these shows foreshadow who attends the Canada Fan Expo. Nice start! (can't wait to see what the special event tickets are)
  17. A few last minute entries! Remarks by Mirka Andolfo, David Finch and Mitch Geralds. Sketch by Mirka Andolfo. My favourite pickup of the year!
  18. I just want to understand their business model. They sit on hundreds of thousands of dollars of inventory for years which is never a good thing.
  19. A question to those that look for preshow commissions for Canada Fan Expo. How do you go about 'listening' for the call for the big artists? How far ahead do you ask?
  20. I haven't seen one for sale for a while now.......and I have been looking!
  21. That's great. While it can be frustrating for the consumer, it makes sense from their perspective.
  22. Cgc has announced they will be at the show!
  23. I am curious. How many of the fun Frank Cho sketch covers are 'out there?' There seem to be a lot on CAF but I rarely see them for sale.
  24. Thanks for the update Kevin. I do realize that CGC makes their own decisions. I hope it was clear I wasn't complaining, just stating my viewpoint. The lack of CGC makes aspects of collecting tough.
