    Whatsnot sales data?

    Instagram sellers?

GPA should just have a category for NerdyGirl sales.  I swear all of the geek boys go crazy for her and her friends sales on WhatNot and Instagram.  I will watch for a while, but honestly can't believe how some of the guys trip over themselves trying to show who has the biggest bankroll.

AND they managed to crowdfund their trip to SDCC. So despite routinely buying and selling five- and six-figure books, they’re pocketing thousands more from “fans.” Wild.

    Love this one 29DA91FF-F7A1-4EFB-A2F3-85D85EF1EDD6.thumb.jpeg.9a79cc8fabd66990f81d3ca5fb8dcd8c.jpeg

Great example of the appeal of some of the labels. They look amazing when paired with the book the art is generated from (like Wolverine #2 and JiM #83), but wonky otherwise, especially when SA art is paired with a modern book, or vice versa.

Can someone help me understand where the idea that DD #1 is falling in value is coming from?

Here are some data points for 9.4:

Maybe the 9.4 is an exception but I just looked at GPA and most grades seem to be falling. Are you seeing the same thing?

I should have clarified low- to mid-grade. High grade SA keys are out of range for many collectors, even with an occasional dip.

A very cool book but very common. There are tons of very high copies out there and even more in lower grades. Even 2K for a 9.8 seems pretty stiff to me but then I bought mine off the newstand…

Yes, the Daredevil 168 9.8 selling for under 2k was a big surprise.  In general, I think it will be good for the hobby for prices to balance out from where they have been the past 2 years.

Hoping the market has finally corrected on this one (and 131). Sold a 9.6 three years ago for $1500, and recently bought one to fill that hole for $1K. Was wild that a 9.8 168 was selling for more than a mid-grade 1.

For most books, the drop in prices is not nearly as fast as how quickly they rose. Also, almost all big keys are still significantly higher than pre pandemic prices.  The only surprise for me is that books have not dropped more than they already have.

Been tracking Daredevil prices for three years as I assembled a 1-300 run, and prices for major keys have plummeted in the last few months. A 168 (first Elektra) in 9.8 just sold for around $2K, when there were multiple sales of over $5K (which is absurdly high for this key) just a few months prior. Ditto for 1 (I’ve never seen so many copies for sale at one time).

I finished All of the Marvels today, and the author actually began reading Marvel Comics at age 10, and has more-or-less been reading comics ever since.  He might have re-read some of them for this project, but he certainly didn't need to keep up the pace of 20 books a day for 3.7 years, given his early start.  :foryou:

I finished it last week. Really enjoyed it. Even the sections on comics I wasn’t very familiar with, like Master of Kung-Fu, we’re riveting. And I was turned on to a lot of modern series/runs that I’ve neglected over the years. (Added about a dozen trades to my wishlist.)

Was bummed that he didn’t do much with Daredevil (beyond mentioning Miller’s iconic runs), and his disdain for Heroes Reborn and the Jim Lee/Rob Liefeld era was super apparent. But overall, an indispensable read by an author who really loves the hobby/industry.

I am so glad i found these message boards early. i only sent one package of 10 books to CGC for pressing and grading. i think i learned to go with an outside presser from now on. I found a good one who will submit it straight to CGC. Cheaper than CCS so i can use the savings to fast track my submissions. Thanks for the information people!! Us Noobs really appreciate it!!:manhero:

Please let us know the results when you get your books back.

I read somewhere that a signed comic will either grade at qualified, or the signature counts as damage in the grading process. Does that mean that signed comics are a waste of time to collect? What if a comic has certificate with it proving the providence? would that be accepted by the graders are proof? or it still won't count?

If collecting signed comics makes YOU happy, then it’s not a waste of time.

    Hello again,

Been reading and the wait times to get your comics back from pressing and grading is taking ALOT longer than what CGC states, in fact months longer!

I know it depends on the Tier level, but are the average processing times to get your comics back around 8 months now for modern?  Does Fast Track cut the delivery time considerably and worth it?

    thanks,

    Philiboy

My last modern FT (two comics, with CCS press) took less than a month.

    I can tell you this...

I sent in a TMNT 1 to be pressed/graded.  While it was there, a signing was announced.  When I received it back, it still had some pressable waviness in the upper left corner.  So I sent it right back in for the signing and another press.  It came back with the same waviness.

I've seen a couple people online claim their books were never pressed while at CGC, with very convincing photos, and I'm pretty sure the same goes for mine.

Just my experience, and in fairness maybe they just forgot... twice... but I would strongly recommend you find someone else.

Someone who will do what you're paying them to do.

This is similar to my experience. Used CCS and my high-value book came back with none of the pressable defects — a very minor finger bend, non-color breaking spine ticks, a light ripple — pressed out. I’m convinced that they never even pressed it.

My "Standard" Sub just moved to GEI today

    Received 5/18/22 - Status GEI 5/26/22

    That was fast.

Should be fast, considering the cost. My one comic submission with custom label and USPS return shipping is $125. Plus $15-30 for insured USPS Priority. My last standard tier submission of two comics was $200+, with about a month TAT out and back.
