  1. Picked this up for $3 at a local convention this past weekend.
  2. Got this out of a 50 cents bin. Yes, Virigina, there was a comic about JELL-O! Believe it or not back in 1991 the Jell-O corporation thought it a good idea to create a character that would attract the young-uns to eat more Jell-o snacks. So they created this comic called JELL-O MAN and WOBBLY, The first issue has the origin story where an experiment using a Secret Laser Activated Hologram Printer (this was before 3-d printing mind you) goes wrong and creates a new hero out of Jello. I kid you not. This really happens. He goes about fighting evil doers and handing out Jello snacks to grateful boys and girls. What is surprising is one of the stories is written by Kurt Busiek.
  3. Picked up some 50 cents comics from a local garage sale. Couldn't pass these up for 2 quarters. I love Basil Wolverton and Wally Wood on PLOP as well as some Charlton goodness!
  4. Went to a local garage sale over the weekend and picked these up for a whopping 50 cents each. Goes to show there are still bargains out there.
  5. Went to a local show. Not much there that I was willing to pay for. Found some interesting $1 comics.
  6. There are many instances of comic companies trying out new ideas before committing to a full appearance. Is this a way to see how audiences would react of just to test drive new characters?
  7. An incedible George Perez cover and interior. This was a comic I loved as a kid and was disappointed they never gave him his own series. I seriously predict that MAN-WOLF will enter the MCU. I wonder if it will be a SONY property or a DISNEY property. He first appeared in SPIDERMAN and SONY owns the SPIDEY universe.
  8. Ok. Here is an interesting question. Why is HOUSE OF SECRETS #92 considered the first appearance of the SWAMP THING? It is clearly just a proto-type yet collector's have deemed it the first appearance. Should not SWAMP THING #1 be the actual first appearance? Because if this is the case how come other prototypes do not get the same respect such as SUPERMAN #123 vs ACTION #252. Also, MARVEL PREVIEWS #7 where a creature that looks like ROCKET RACCOON and is not named as opposed to INCREDIBLE HULK #271 where he is named.
  9. Picked this up at an antique mall. They were having a sale with 50% off sticker.
  10. I was talking to fellow collectors and the topic came up that it has been over 35 years since the end of the copper age. Usually it has been 10-15 year cycles to name a new age of comics. What would you consider a new age and why? Here is my suggestion: 1992-2000 I would call the CHROMIUM AGE due to the rise of Image comics and the trend to enhance the comics with gimmicks and variants. 2000-2010 I would call the SILICON AGE due to the rise of digital comics. What do you think? Have a suggestion of your own? Let's hear it.
  11. PIcked these up at a recent one day show. I am sucker for cheap silver age especially in pretty decent shape.
  12. There is talk that SPIDERMAN: NO WAY HOME could reach a billion dollars. While the last 3 MCU films barely broke even or even lost money. How do you think this will effect both properties moving forward? Marvel selling SPIDERMAN may have have been either a genius move or the worst mistake they ever made. SONY is too big for Disney to buy. What do you think the MCU has that could out do SPIDERMAN?
  13. I love MAN-WOLF! Started off in SPIDERMAN! Would love to see him return or appear in the MCU!
  14. Thanks for all the great info. I am putting together a list of all the book here and will start the hunt once I get as much info as I can. I do know that MARVEL did a Beatles magazine back in the 1970's? Also, if I am not mistaken wasn't there a NOT BRAND EECH where they appear?
  15. There is no doubt that George Perez is a major comic talent and one of my favorites back when I was growing up collecting comics. His use of Kirby power dots and his excellent draftsmanship made him a legend! Certainly he had been under-rated in my opinion and deserves more accolades! With the news of his cancer diagnosis I was saddened and wanted to express my respect for his long career. So let's post your fav George Perez covers.
  16. It seems to be me that more collectors are excited by MCU announcement than DCU. Is this a good buying opportunity for DC Comics?
  17. WOW! Quite a collection! I only have the YELLOW SUBMARINE one. Now on to the hunt. So it is your opinion that the DELL GIANT is the very first comic appearance of the BEATLES?
  18. Thanks to everyone for giving me info. However, I still don't have what I am looking for. I would like to know what comic (no magazines) of the very 1st appearance of the Beatles in a comic whether it is a cameo or full appearance, unofficial or official. No photos but actual drawing of the Beatles. Anyone know?
  19. Who's excited for this? I love the METAL MEN! https://comicbook.com/dc/news/dc-comics-metal-men-movie-in-the-works-animated-dc-films/
