  1. Maybe what they are actually selling are NFT's of the image of CGC slabs and somehow got lost in translation (LOL)
  2. all good...and again..no offense , deadpoolica
  3. yeah, I know ... but I take what you say about deadpoolica with a heavy grain of salt
  4. DeadPoolica is not always spot on ..he or she has undervalued greatly on a couple grades that have already come in. Predicted a 3.5 on ASM`14 that turned out to be a 5.0. Predicted a 7.5 on anASM 121 (9.0)..and that's just from what I noticed just doing research on a couple books for grades that have come in. I bet if you looked at each person's grading standard deviation, deadpoolica would be about the same as a lot of people..no offense deadpoolica
  5. I think I may send it in as is just so we can all have a good case study of what a tear like this represents. Can't find any similar examples online.
  6. I doubt that 'mark' has a significant effect on the grading..it's not a water stain..which causes the imagination to go wild and is unsightly. It's just a mark. With the small left bottom corner and a couple creases..I would say a 9.0. I would suggest waiting till John Romita jr can sign it to send it in..or send it now for Jim Shooter's sig. Pressing is cheaper with SS (only 20) and if it does drop down lower(I seriously doubt it will go lower than 8.5) , you have a signature to buffer the lower grade.
  7. Well, I didn't say tears 'weren't' bad..I was implying that it depends on the situation. Tears 'could' be bad, for sure...but it depends ..which is the point I was trying to make and I think is a very important distinction in communication regarding comic book grading. 'Tears are bad' just doesn't convey useful information..although, your follow up response is much more useful. Lots of things can drop a grade from 9.2 to 9.0 or 9.0 to 8.5 or 8.0 to 7.5 ..so, IDK how much a quarter inch tear really effects the grading...it's definitely not spelled out anywhere. Seems to be more of a personal choice for people and a proprietary decision for CGC (meaning, they don't want to tell us how it effects the grading)
  8. From research in CGC chat boards..that is a matter entirely of opinion ..doesn't seem to be a clear consensus on tears and from what little evidence people have shown, it would not be anymore than a 0.5 to 1.0 grade reduction from CGC (for a 1/4" tear), especially on the back cover. Found this too on youtube. PGX gave ASM 7 with multiple back tears and large creases plus a half inch tear (puncture wound) a 7.5. CGC gave a 9.0 to a Tales to astonish book with a quarter inch tear on spine (had other imperfections including a good sized moisture stain)
  9. I know he's particular about signings..hoping he does another private CGC in house
  10. I was thinking around an 8.0 too...it has a really nice sheen and it's flat
  11. This has a quarter inch tear in back. I am waiting to get this signed by McFarlane and will do a CGC SS but I am curious as to what you may think the grade is. The pages are white to Off/white and intact inside
  12. I am seeing a lot of marvel books actually being 'sold' for astronomical prices, which has happened just in the past several months. I have never seen the market this crazy..asked my comic retailer who has been selling back issues for past 55 years and he has not seen anything like this ever before either. Maybe it's pandemic fever attracting speculators who wouldn't normally invest in comics.I, personally, am trying to wait this fever out before I buy anymore back issues of Xmen (unless I find something reasonable which has been very difficult). I am afraid that all of this steep appreciation in comics values is just a bubble..it's gonna burst one day..like what happened with the housing market in 2008
  13. They are refunding the pressing fee I paid since they don't actually tell submitters that they don't press foil covers. I also suggested they update their website to include a statement that foil covers cant be pressed
  14. Seems a little messed up they would charge me for pressing...which they did. Anyway, thanks for the responses
  15. when I said window bag..I just meant the mylar plastic bag they sent it back in. There are no sigs. IDK, it was a gold leaf Negan that got bent in shipping...maybe they cant press books with 'gold leaf'
  16. I submitted and was returned a book for pressing ONLY. Other than the fact it took 5 months (wont do that again) ..it looks like they didnt even press it. There is also a 'P reject' label on the window bag. Does anyone know what that means?
  17. well, I dont collect Batman...but sending in one of my ASM 252's for a remarque by Kaus
  18. At first I thought this was a result of someone cropping the top edge with scissors or a table cutter. But at the lower right corner you can see the raw paper of the cover and compared to other copies , the windows on the lower right should be lower. Also the spine gives a clue to..am I right in thinking this is a printing error ? Mycomicshop graded it as an 8.0 ...I wonder if it would have gotten a 8.5 or 9.0 if it were set properly. It's a really nice copy with white pages '
