Is CGC going to be at Fan Expo Dallas June 7th - 9th 2024 for signature verification? Also, I have a CGC yellow label signature book that I want to get more signatures on. Will CGC crack it open for me there?
I dunno if cgc will have a booth there but if you go they or ANY of their authorized facilitators that are there will crack your yellow for you right there and allow you to add signatures to it

What is the “important message about the new amazing” from the editor the cover mentions? I’ve seen this over a billion times in my 30+ years as a fan and always wondered what the message was! You’re the first person I’ve met with a raw copy not sealed in a horrible slab so can you please solve my lifelong mystery?
Beautiful books, btw! I hope you enjoy the yacht or summer home in Cabo selling them is going to net you!

Easiest way to send slabs is go to the post office and get medium flat rate boxes (they’re free). Those fit slabs perfectly. When you pack it, place it between cardboard & wrap it it in bubbles and then fill in dead space with packing material.

I hate GPA. I watch a lot of IG Live sales and there’s always some knucklehead with access to gocollect who thinks looking up last sales makes him a negotiating genius, I’d be the worst IG seller bc it would take every fiber of my being not to go off on a epic Chevy Chase Lampoon style rant on these people.
Prices guides are not sacred texts. There’s a lot of things that go into it. If I have a book you see once or twice a year and person B wants said book, well then it becomes how badly can they live without it? Also you never know things like what is someone’s profit margin, how badly do they need money now, etc etc

Cleaning out more of my collection to find stuff to list on Mycomicshop but thought I’d resurrect this thread first. Never get any action but I’m gonna keep trying. Not sure why. I’m a swell guy. Been a boardie 5 years, been on eBay for 25 years (!!!) with 100% as a seller.
Anyway same rules as my previous post - no baddies, PayPal or Zelle for payment, public take trumps private message, shipping good only to CONUS and returns at your expense. Here’s the book:
Captain Marvel #1 (2019 series) signed by the lovely and talented Amanda Conner on first day of issue (which I thought was a coin thing but I guess CGC notes it too).
$85 SHIPPED
Crisis signed by Wolfman listed above also still available so PM me a bundle offer and take ‘em both. Like I said I’m a nice guy. Really.

Every year I walk around artist alley at Megacon and recognize fewer and fewer names. Getting tough being a fan who came of age in the 70s/80s, May Khonshu guide you home, Mr Perlin

I thought some of the posts in the Noob forum here were put ons then I see things like this and it saddens me to realize there really are people like this

Last year I submitted 2 orders at the same comicon. One I fast tracked bc I wanted the book back for another signing and one I did regularly. The came back to me 3 days apart.
-
Cgc will verify signatures now you just get a black stripe across your yellow slab to indicate it’s a verified signature. I believe the verification service is an extra $25. As for if it’s worth sending in, that comic isn’t worth much. 9.4s sell for about $50 so getting it pressed, verified and graded will run you more than that

PJ was literally my first thought too when I saw this post a couple hours ago. I didn’t suggest it tho bc she puts a little heart on every sig I’ve seen and the lack of heart in this one makes me uncomfortable. If I worked at JSA I wouldn’t certify it but I hope you get your $25 anyway

NVM. 26 copies of the book I was waiting for got claimed by someone

Great change. Long overdue. I’ve been collecting cards almost as long as comics and finally moving to their model. My card collecting buddies could never believe us comic guys had to drag around a middle aged dork to “witness” for a signature to be “authentic.” Good job, CGC!

The media & entertainment industry have worked overtime to demonize AI because it’s self serving to do so. When a robot delivers your tomato soup & stick of deodorant 25 minutes after ordering it or shortens your wait for a venti flat white at the Coffee Bean, well, that’s just progress. But the second a computer can put the sane level of dialogue in Vin Diesel’s mouth or depict two guys in tights punching each other in the funny books, well then that’s just evil that must be stopped!

If I’m reading it right it looks like this was my first top 10 finish (not counting the tie breakers). So happy about that. Wish I had the marbles to stick with my “just guess 9.4” strategy straight through all 4 rounds because I would’ve definitely saved myself almost a half dozen points
Okay, high-grade-palooza is over, hopefully we can get back mastering beaters…

My experience with CGC convinced me that CGC's "system" (the precision of its condition grading rubric, and the skill of the individuals who are tasked with properly interpreting and applying that rubric) is only reproducible to + or - one grade increment, at best. Hence, any player with a total score of 20 or less in any single CGC Contest is almost certainly an outstanding grader -- as good as most of the individuals CGC currently has on staff.
I’ve always said I consider 20 a “perfect score” so it’s nice to see that backed up by actual numerical data. I suppose people want grading to be an EXACT science but I wish more understood it’s somewhat subjective and it’ll always be subjective as long as humans are involved.
Which comes back to why I’ve said I found this particular edition of the contest the least enjoyable. In my experience, the higher the grade, the more subjective grading becomes. It’s why I’ve seen dealers on IG submit literally 20 copies of a new “hot” book to CGC. They know 5 will come back 9.8, 5 will be 9.4 and the rest will be 9.6s despite for all practical purposes they all look the same.

Well I had 3 points through the first 4 books….then took a stupid 3 on the Y 😡 Of course they grade the book with the most minor ticky tack little flaws the strictest…
oh well, thanks for another contest Mike,

Hey, I didn't wait to the last minute and have to be reminded 35x to get my grades in! Once again to the foreboding strains of Blue Oyster Cult, I have submitted my final grades. I will not win but I pray for mediocrity...

Looks 9.8 to me 9.8 doesn’t mean “absolutely flawless”

4 points this round. One grade off on each & a bull on the SW8 which was a no brainer soon as Mike showed the staples. My all 9.4s strategy paying dividends!
