  1. Can’t believe there’s still someone in single digits. Looks like I moved from low middle to upper middle so I’ll take it. Subtracting 3 points from my total due to last rounds shenanigans, I’m actually pretty pleased with my showing thus far.
  2. This isn’t the right forum for this. You should post in Ask CGC. I always get prompt customer service there
  3. 2 🎯 and 3 a half grade off for my best ever round of 3 POINTS!! Clearly the key to my doing well is to do atrociously the first two rounds, get eliminated from contention, then excel when there’s no incentive to succeed
  4. Just to group your questions together, everything in one order must be the same. So if you have 4 books and want custom labels, it has to be custom on ALL 4 or none. Same with screening. Same with pressing/CCS. Either all books are pressed or none are. If you have 4 moderns and want 2 pressed and 2 not, either order it for all 4 or submit two separate orders. Now the good news is you can send all your submissions together. So if you have 2 vintage, 2 modern and 3 prescreen, you can ship them all in the same box, just make sure everything is organized & paperwork is in order. You’ll just get 3 separate shipments back from CGC (and pay shipping 3x).
  5. To be fair, ebay takes a decent chunk out of your sale plus our wonderful Congress passed that law taxing small time ebayers so we can build windmills in Utah or whatever so I understand ebayers pricing stuff above GPA. In their calculus, they’ll be clearing around GPA after all the fees are deducted so it’s fair. Now the ones on there who still price stuff like it’s 2020 or guys at Cons asking 20% above GPA when you’re dealing in cash money, those people have no excuse.
  6. I’m curious how often CGC decides to regrade books sent in for reholder. I have a 5-6 books I’d love to send in for custom labels but not at the risk of my 9.6 coming back a 9.2.
  7. I’ve only been banned once, from a Rob Liefeld fan forum on FB that Rob posts to. This happened back when he was touring comic shops in support of Major X. He appeared at a comic shop in either TX or CA, I forget which, but they made it VERY clear he was there for MX. He would meet fans, sign MX1 for free, take pics, etc. but if you wanted something else like your NM87 signed he was gonna charge his regular fees. Anyway the comic gossip sites picked up an angry post from some “fan” who posted/emailed that he loved Rob, waited in line for 2 hours, then got told he couldn’t meet Rob bc he had no money. Rob posted links to these articles as examples of how the comic media smears him. I looked at the articles and it was very clear the “fan” in question was a native Spanish speaker who had a limited grasp of English and the whole thing came down to a language barrier. I posted as such to which Rob replied (paraphrasing): “Don’t make excuses for comic sites! Everyone there knew how the event worked! The comic press is always out to smear me!” The reply was like 5 minutes old. When I hit refresh to respond, I saw I was banned. Thr great irony of all this is I was always a big Liefeld fan to the point Peter David actually wrote about me as a “diehard Rob fan” in one of his CBG columns back in 1994. Oh well…
  8. It’s not a green label. The CGC President guy announced that books signed INSIDE on first page will get blue labels going forward
  9. Looks like small corner bumps and maybe a couple very very light spine ticks. I was at 9.2-9.4 as well.
  10. I was at 9.4-9.6 until the ink issue. If that’s a pen mark you’ll lose some points on that
  11. I did good through the first 3 books then got totally crushed on the #92. I was using a 49 inch UHD gaming monitor and didn’t see those water stains. Notes would’ve definitely helped on those last two. Its not like I have any prayer of placing anyway so throwing both out might be much but I would definitely vote everyone gets a mulligan on the #92.
  12. I have a Spawn #1 that I submitted with centerfold poster missing on accident. Came back a 7.5 Blue when intact I’m sure it was a NM grade. I think in cases like these where you don’t specify anything CGC just takes it upon themselves to give you a blue or green as they see fit
  13. It takes real talent to turn Samuel L Jackson from the coolest dude ever to an Internet meme laughingstock
  14. Nobody can really put a dollar value on your collection without research and better info. That being said, just looking at what you collect, that’s a whole lot of dollar bin stuff. DC from 87 to 11 was pretty creatively bankrupt as far as core JLA related characters is concerned. They had Wonder Woman working at Taco Bell for crying out loud. There’s a big lack of key issues and the stuff that was notable (Superman death, Batman breaking) had ginormous printings which keeps value down. So I don’t think you’re sitting on a future retirement fund, sorry.
  15. It’s been about 70/30 for me as far as the fedex driver actually making me sign for my box vs just dropping it off and forging my name (or whatever)
  16. I was one of the 4.0’s on Thing so I take solace in being with the majority even if it cost me two points. Man, I thought an 8 would be a solid if unspectacular score. Now that I see dudes are throwing up 1s snd 2s I feel like a rec league player going one on one with Steph Curry
  17. In my defense, I was looking at these books on my 49 inch gaming monitor so what was evidently a chip on that Thing looked like a giant chunk to me
  18. Yeah the cases are cracked. If you submit them to CGC, do it under REHOLDER option and they put it in a fresh new case without regrading it. That way you don’t have to worry about some grader breaking up with his girlfriend the day his dog ran away giving your 9.8 a 8.5 because he was in a bad mood.
  19. Think I’m at 8 or 9 pts which isn’t too bad for me. CGC having that bizarre “1.8” exception to the half point rule cost me an extra point as I was too generous to the Hulk Beater. Although as usual I was harder on almost everything else than CGC was. I struggled with Popular and Thing because they both presented very nice then had what I’d consider a “significant” flaw. Still can’t believe you can score a 5.0 with a giant chunk out the cover like that. I guess it’d be a solid 7.0-7.5 without that so a 2+ grade penalty seems logical in hindsight. Anyway, onwards and downwards!
  20. I assume your overseas OP but if you have access to Amazon (or something similar) I’d suggest renting/buying a series called “Robert Kirkman’s History of Comics.” He did an episode on Milestone Comics, which Static is the flagship character of. It’s very interesting and informative. Basically DC wanted to increase minority representation in comics so they established a new side imprint ala Vertigo or Marvel’s Max line called Milestone run entirely by people of color. It’s a very good documentary and you’ll learn lots about Static!
  21. You should find a comic shop in your area. They’re always buying full collections and that would be much easier than selling it off piece by piece on eBay. If your feeling daunted now, listing 100 lots on eBay, taking enough pics to make fussy geeks happy, then packing and shipping out dozens and dozens of books while eBay (and then Joe Biden) take $45% of your profit is going to be even worse. As for the Larsen, original art by a “name” artist like that is always in demand. In fact, I’m sure your DMs are blown up by boardies here trying to buy it off you right now LOL Last time I met Erik he was charging $700 for a full figure like that so price accordingly. If you don’t want to sell it here I can recommend about 10 art groups on FB where it’ll be snapped up quick. Good luck!
  22. Some variants go up, some I've seen people just asking for cover price for YEARS and not getting it. Your asking people to predict the future. I, personally, having lived through the Great 90s Comic Bust think this variant nonsense is just history repeating itself and people collecting those nonsense variants are going to have lotsa garage sell filler when comic movies are no longer Hollywood's crutch. But, hey, maybe I'm wrong and the Ida Spud 1:100 potato skin variant ASM will be worth $20k in 2030.
