  1. I thought I heard a couple British affects slip in there. Weird because I don’t remember noticing a one in the entire Netflix run. Also I dunno if it’s the new suit or he’s filling in a bit with age but Charlie looked a bit…thicker than I remember. Reminded me of Batfleck. I gave up on this terrible show a month ago but had to come back for DD & wasn’t disappointed. I’m all in with making Charlie the MTVU version of RDJR.
  2. ss ddd eee ggg 85 92 120 142 hulk 377 newsstand New avengers 7 Fanfare 11 & 12 set Cherry jubilee 4 Afterlife Archie 5 & 7 set all these
  3. Mexican variant Harley Quinn photo cover signed by Margot Robbie. Only two photo covers of her exist but this one is much much rarer. There’s only two in the census TOTAL, my Signature Series copies - hope this counts since I own both LOL
  4. I’ve been in the card business for 10 years and all I can tell you is learn to grade. Rare/sought after cards can be worth good money in mid/lower grades but generally only high grades are worth anything, especially in mass produced sets like those. I had a bunch of those Marvel cards you’re showing and anything below a 9 or 10 is generally not worth grading (unless you just want it slabbed for your own collection). Have fun!
  5. Lynda Carter and Daisy Duke had quite the, erm, effect on my childhood… Well at least I didn’t finish dead last! Maybe I should’ve read the notes this time. I thought two of those last books were really nice, especially that Radiant Love. Seems like CGC hammers finger bends and stack creases more than tears and chips. Thanks for running this contest. It was fun and educational!
  6. I think Feige saw the opening at WBDiscovery and is actively trying to get fired.
  7. All done It was fun seeing these cool golden age books. I'm a history buff and would love to get into GA books some day but just keeping my Copper/Bronze addictions fed is expensive enough LOL Thanks for doing this contest.
  8. LMAO Of course I pull off double bullseyes after I utterly ignore the graders notes and literally submit the first two grades that pop in my head. Clearly the key to being a top notch CGC grader is to not think too much
  9. I’ve had books pressed by a very good third party presser come back with the “light finger bend” thing then had it repressed by ccs and resubmitted and STILL come back with those bends noted. I hate to be conspiratorial but sometimes I think there’s some sort of mandate to limit how many 9.8s are assigned
  10. All I wanted was to not embarrass myself. Yay for being dead last!! I swear I had 5.5 and 4 in the last round then read the graders notes over and over until I talked myself into stupidly low guesses. :Insert gif of Wiley Coyote dropping an anvil on his own head.
  11. Yeah I’m ignoring those grader notes from now on. I admit I’m naturally a bit of a tough grader but they definitely influenced me to drop .5-1 full grade on two of those books. Like the Jungle looked beautiful but when I read “light center bend and cover tear” I figured a 7.0 would be out of question.
  12. That wouldn't be a bad move IMO. I'm a card guy (it's actually my main hustle I use to fund my comic addiction LOL) and Becky is pretty much the gold standard in that area. I didn't even know the comic and card companies were owned by the same people until I visited their home office in Dallas. Branding their comics with the B would bring the same prestige CGC gets by branding their card arm with their name. Their current name has no cache.
  13. Yeah I had some snap judgments based off the pics then I read the notes and they sent me into a tailspin of confusion & self doubt
  14. Not a fan of the custom labels but in this case it really looks cool! Sorry you got hammered on the grade. I always thought as long as the cover was there & not like missing a giant chunk it’d get a 2.0+. I’m planning to meet Mr Conway at a con in December so here’s hoping I can find a ASM 129 in similar condition since I’m po’ LOL Congrats on adding such awesome book to your collection!
  15. Have you ever gotten one of those blank cover variants graded? They almost all come back 9.8 except a very few outliers. Blank sketch variants have been a thing for 5-6 years now so no, this is not new. CGC has always seemed clear that the outer most thing is the “cover” and everything in between is graded as pages. Anyway I guess some people will always complain or not be satisfied. CGC definitely f-ed up but it could be worse, like say losing 350 books into thin air. At the end of the day all I wanted was them to adhere tp THEIR own standards and slap this ridiculous frankenbook with the GREEN weenie it deserved. Now that they’re doing the right thing I’m satisfied with their decision, late as it may be. Oh to be a fly on the wall for the people who don’t read these boards. When they get their precious “investment” back with that ugly green label it’s going to be glorious. Hopefully the real villains (Black Flag) suffer the repercussions they deserve.
  16. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that cover before. Ditko draws the Hulk really cool. If grade isn’t important to you CGC does have a NG (No Grade) label. I think they only do that for cover less Comics but yours is about as close to that as I’ve seen LOL You might want to talk to them & see if you can work out a deal to just get yours authenticated & slabbed without a grade. https://www.cgccomics.com/grading/labels/
  17. I really wish he’d make an acetate overlay for xforce #1. I’d love to see what he’d add. All I’d want is the acetate, we all have dozens and dozens of xforce 1s, I’d be happy to staple it together myself.
  18. Odds of what? I don’t see a 9.8 here if that’s what you meant. The two tiny corner bumps and whatever is going on with the back lower staple (teeny tiny staple pull?) aren’t going to be fixed with pressing. They’re not glaring flaws and I submit similar looking moderns that come back 9.4-9.6 all day so I’d expect 9.4-9.6 & just hope maybe you get lucky with a loosely graded 9.8
  19. It looks like the bottom left fold breaks a bit of color on the black (black is the absolute worst). Depends how picky a grader you get but I’ve had pressed folds with a tiny speck of color break come back as “small cb crease.” Pressing wouldn’t help the marks on the spine bc those def look cbing.
  20. The only villains Loki could bring in that would “break the Internet” would be if they did some crazy stunt like brought in McKellen to play Magneto or Tony Kebell as Doctor Doom, Nobody knows or cares about the Squadron Supreme. I’ve been reading comics since 1979 and the only reason I have any Squadron comics in my collection is I wanted the TPB with Gruenwald’s ashes. Actually now that I think of it bringing back Kebell as an actually evil Doom would kinda rule. So I hope MCU is reading this!
  21. The hell is my “bay window” and why do I need it lifted and flattened? Amazing that a book 70 years old would have such little spine wear or general reading/handling damage. Really presents beautiful other than the obvious heavy discoloration. Anyway I really just wanted to admire the book but I suppose I’m obliged to offer an opinion. The back has some weird water stain/foxing thing and there there looks like some light spine wear in addition to the general issue of it being tanner than a 60 year old beach bum down in Clearwater. I have some Gold Keys like this that they hammered with a 6.0 so I’m gonna say that give or take what mood their in.
  22. Unless he’s doing it as a F-U to DC for screwing around with bringing him back as Superman I don’t get why he’d want to play a D list character on a Disney+ show. Actually I remember they messed around with Black Adam for 5 years and then soon as rumors were Rock was talking to Marvel they greenlit it immediately so it’s probably a good strategy
  23. Crain did a comic shop tour last year. He came to my LCS and the line for him stretched outside the store, down the corridor almost to the entrance of the mall. This store has had signings by Shooter, Golden, Land, etc and I’ve never seen 1/3 of that for any creator. On Black Friday they’re lucky if there’s 20 people in the store at a time, He’s been at Megacon every year the past several years. He’s so in demand that you have to give Flag your # and they put you in a ‘virtual queue.” The queue is usually full by around noon. I’ve met him several times. The first time 4-5 years ago I got a sketch. I put the sketch on comicartfans just to show it off but every 6 months or so I get a message asking if I’d be willing to sell it. Turned down several decent offers. At the LCS signing I mentioned the owner set up a VIP line for us longtime pull box customers. I had grown men offering me $100+ to pretend they were with me so they could jump the line to meet this guy. It’s fine if you never heard of him. It’s fine if you hate his art or think he’s a talentless hack as I’ve seen others allude to. The fact is he’s an absolute rock star among modern comic collectors. His popularity is on par with what I saw with the OG Image founders back in the 90s. Except having done 1/10 of the work.
  24. If there isn’t some kind of reward at the center, it’s not worth sucking on for 10 minutes. This comment is not meant to be as dirty as it sounds. Intrust me.
