  1. Yeah, I've seen it listed as signed and numbered before, but it's just that image from his portfolio that was signed and numbered. Still, a really cool item. I had a copy years ago, and at the time, couldn't figure out why it wasn't signed.

Nice set of Terrifics, nigh on impossible to find without rusty staples, and why didn't you buy my Vampi set?.:baiting:

I probably should have said "over the last 6 months", as to when the Vampi's were accumulated. I think I had both sets when your set was listed on the boards. Even so, I was surprised your set didn't sell,  especially when you dropped the price.

I put together a couple of compilations of the CGC sketch covers from the official signing event that Arthur has done so far (well, at least the ones that have shown up on social media). I've posted them (for the most part) in chronological order of when they were drawn (or at least finished). Here's Pt. 1 which incudes covers that were drawn in September.

That Wolverine on the 2nd row with a small piece of hair showing is closing on ebay today, currently at $810.

  4. Picked up a full size Wrightson Frankenstein print from the wife. It's the 40th Anniversary one that was released recently. It's not as nice as the Artist Edition they did awhile back, but it's still a beauty, comparable to the ones Wrightson used to sell at conventions. Limited print of 400

Also got this boxed set reproduction of the 24 black light cards that were originally produced by Third Eye.

  5. It was the classic Neal Adams/Denny O'Neil Green Lantern/Green Arrow run for me. They are beautiful books, had a couple of stand out issues, but overall it was a somewhat boring read for what the books sell for. As an old Speedy fan, I did really enjoy the spotlight on him in the drug storyline, and the intro of John Stewart was a plus, but it was a rather preachy for the most part.

Commenting on the Ronin/Dark Knight talk. Obviously, Ronin was a vanity project for Miller, and I had a difficult time reading it. I think I made it thru the third book before calling it quits. I did pick up a tpb of it years later and found it much easier and enjoyable to read, while actually enjoying it. I think when it came out it was so different, it was difficult for me to get in to. Comics have grown up over the last 30+ years and it read much more cleanly when revisited.

As far as Dark Knight goes, it was a classic when it was published and remains one today. It, and Watchmen, totally reinvigorated the whole comic book industry. If you want to argue that Alan Moore had already started that, that's fine, but Miller blew it up with his take on Batman and Superman. There's a small group that didn't like it, but maybe they are the ones that don't get it.

I’m pretty sure Doctor Weird #1 is not his first published work although I’ve seen it listed as such. I have some fanzine work by him in the previous year at least from 1969. I’d have to look to see what issue(s).

Mycomicshop had a copy of the sample issue up for sale in the last year or so. I was buying a bunch of late 60s/early 70s fanzines and decided to wait for it on the next order. It was gone soon after that. As far as Starlin work, he did multiple stories in Star Studded Comics (some featuring Doctor Weird) before the Doctor Weird #1 came out. He also did a really cool The Eagle title for the Texas Trio guys at around the same time.

I believe that may have passed through my hands at one point. I can't believe there could be two of those. Bought it in a bulk box lot about 10 years ago and just couldn't keep it, it was so ugly. Listed it on ebay as an auction, describing it as seriously water damaged without stains, low, low ugly grade book. The "without stains" comment probably got someone to bite. I was expecting it to go for $10-$20. It went for over $100. I sweated that thing being returned for months!

Paul Smith puts several of these up on his web site sporadically throughout each month, usually in the middle of the night. His price is clearly too low for the market since they are typically gone in minutes. I happened to log on at the right time and got this one, not even knowing how lucky my timing was.

I did the same thing with Chris Bachalo. When he has an art drop it usually sells out in a few minutes, happened to be on his site when it dropped.

Here's my first piece, bought directly from Dave in the early 90s when he did his world tour.
