I had no idea Nick Cardy did any work for Marvel. Too bad he didn't do more.
I read somewhere that this is the only work Cardy did for a color Marvel Comic Book. He also did covers for Deadly Hands of Kung Fu and Marvel Movie Premiere but those were for the Black and White Magazine line.

My favorite period for Buscema art was when he did the Avengers in the early 1970s with inks by Grainger. Squadron Sinister, Invaders, Scorpio, he was at his finest. By the mid 1970s he had developed a bunch of short cuts because he was producing so much work.

Remember the good old days in the late 70's when comic stores would go out of business and have real liquidation sales? I'd come home with a stack of books and my Mom would get on to me about buying more than 1 copy of the same book. "It's the same exact book!!! Why would you waste your quarter on the same exact book!! Just read the first one twice. What am I going to do with you..."
That'll teach you Mom

Well, unless there is something special in there, you can assume the books with extra staples are low value. The tabloid size books shown are under $10 each. The only thing shown with any type of value are the sealed Star Wars packs with issues #1-3. If the books look in nice shape and bags are not torn up these have been selling for around $125-$150 each on ebay. I'd think it is safe to assume that a child's bronze collection that has been stapled to protect against damage, doesn't have anything worth having graded.
If you want to create a list of the books involved it would take maybe 10 minutes to look it over and separate the junk from anything with value.

Cool thanks for the info.
Anyone else have any info on these?
Was a certain percentage of these stapled off the press and designated as "mailers"?
I bought a large collection of these a couple of years back and 90% had the subscription staple on them, most showing a degree of rust on them (cheap staples). I assumed the others were sold at conventions direct from the publisher or old comic stores.

As someone who tried to compliment him for hitting the goldmine with the Marvel Zombie craze (at a convention about 10 years ago), he really, really thinks highly of himself.

Love these books! Back in the early (mid?) 1980s my local comic shop picked up a large high grade collection. It had been picked over by the time I got there. I picked out complete runs (minus issues #1 & 2) of the 25 cent giants from both Marvel Tales, Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel Collectors Item. He wanted double guide on all of them. I was pissed off but paid it after person_without_enough_empathying for like an hour. They ended up costing me $1 each instead of the .50 guide price. Even today they are the most under priced books on the market.

I like to show the good ones but what to do with 20 copies of Star Brand? As far as reasoning goes 45 years of “good deals”
Star Brand got me twice, first with issue #1, and just about when it had died they gave the book to Byrne and I loaded up again...

Of course, the big big Marvel BA book that was sitting at the top of the collecting hill at the time with no real serious challengers was the big squarebound Avengers 93 with the full Neal Adams classic cover and interiors.
Yep, my first convention experience was in 1976 or 77. At $5 I had a choice between Nm'ish copies of Iron Man #1, Silver Surfer #1 and Avengers #93. It was no contest for the Avengers #93! I probably have 15-20 mid grade copies because it just seems like such a bargain anytime I see it.

I've got a copy of that book also, great read! Anyway, after seeing your copy I pulled it back out and was reading the Wrightson Interview. I've always felt it was somewhat disrespectful to classify all of Wrightsons work after the Frankenstein pieces as lesser quality (although that's exactly what I do). It was refreshing to read his take on the subject:
CBA: If I can be frank here: One of the perceptions I had was that you pored your heart and soul into Frankenstein—you almost sweat blood—and you made it drop-dead, gorgeous. It was the best work you had done up until that time. Subsequently....
Bernie: Nothing's been as good?
CBA: Nothing's been as good.

When submitting a comic for grading, should free gifts sold with some issues of various books be included in the shippment to CGC in order to obtain highest grade? I have a Capt. Britain #1 with the original cardboard face mask that was sold with the book - should that be included with my submission?
Would having the "eyes" punched out and the "tag" on the side of it removed make it incomplete? This is how I received mine, I originally thought the black gunk on the left side was adhesive used to attach it to the comic. After hearing of the rubber bands, it now looks like that is the rubber bands that have degraded town to a sticky gunk that was holding it on to the comic. They have also left a tacky dark residue on the interior page they were attached to. Now I'm wondering if it would it be better off just removing the "tab" and hoping that doesn't make it incomplete?

What's the deal with Heathcliff 12? Doesn't look like he's violating a seal or anything.
Assuming it's for the Marvel 25th anniversary frame cover. That said, I only saw 1 copy at or over $100 on Ebay, so not sure how comfortable that price is.

I'd think the
gsx 1 8.5, FF 48 4.0
by a decent amount. Not only now but for the future as these 2 books are both surging in price, waiting for any MCU news to send them sky rocketing.
