Yes, I have noticed that as well with the second appearance of the Justice League losing its value by half within the past 5 years. It`s really first appearance of GTFO in most cases. Makes sense though, first appearance books are the main books that will get demand from people outside the hobby, and it's not like the supply can ever increase. So everyone wants to make sure they have their copy, and thus there is less money spent on other books instead. -

High volume submission discount
William-James88 replied to migmtl76's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
Yes, CBCS gives a really cool discount, I think even now collectors get one book graded free every 10 books or so. But they are only doing this because they are not CGC and give incentives. CGC needs no incentives and they are getting lots of business, these are not desperate times at all for CGC or any comic book auction house. They stayed open and books are selling for all time records. The waiting times are long enough, giving you an idea of the volume they deal with. No reason to give more of a discount than what they already give if you select the higher tiers. So basically, if you want the discount others are giving, then go with others. -
High volume submission discount

No discount. You only get discounts by subscribing to different levels. -
Count me in as someone who doesn't get it either. The only thing I can think of is if discoloured staples are a thing with this comic, like if all comics show that defect in some way or another. Both of yours do, so if all do, then it would be considered a defect at the factory level, in terms of what was specifically used in this issue, and you could still get a 9.8. But I will admit, it doesn't look good.

Yes they do. The art is in a folder while the comics are in a smaller box, and both are put in a bigger box. Also, I too noticed some really high prices last night on Heritage. I think enough people have stopped looking on e-bay (I will admit to be one of them) and just stick to their new habits without looking elsewhere. Here's the lot I walked away from, whoever bought this overpaid by a couple hundreds https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/superhero/golden-age-superhero-group-of-4-dc-fawcett-1941-43-condition-average-gd-total-4-/a/122028-13259.s?ic2=mybidspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyBids-101116 -

Here's a surprisingly still affordable key I just nabbed from the recent comiclink auction. Very cool that these still go below guide now even though this character was a mainstay on the CW shows. https://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?back=%2FComicTrack%2FAuctions%2Fbids.asp&id=1408733 -
It is. Here is the rule for a 9.8: There can be NO evidence of wear on the comic. None. Any flaw found must be from when the comic was made on the press. And the flaws you mention are not from when it was made.

Qualified grading value question
William-James88 replied to mchlmhny's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
If you just want to sell, then you are going about it the right way with getting those key books CGC'd and selling on ComicLink. It's the only place I ever sold though and I had 0 problems. You can also check out Mycomicshop, I know people who swear by them and that's a great place to unload the books that you won't get CGC'd. They'll grade it for you and put it on auction, so it comes out to the same thing and you don't have to waste any money getting them graded. Now to answer some other questions: You can get a sense of the fair market value by looking on e-bay and searching for the same books you have and selecting "sold listings" as a filter. Like that you'll see what it sold for. Also take a look at the condition, you could match that with yours to get a sense of what your stuff is worth, at least to get a sense of which comics are more valuable. For instance, you'll see that X-Men 12 sells in the multiple hundreds for most grades but that Amazing Spider-man 22 does not. So right there, you can get an idea of what is worth sending to CGC and, more importantly for you, what is still ok to send if you risk it coming back a green label. There is a market for green label, it's perfect for people who want to own the comic but can't afford a good looking one. What the green label give to a collector is a nice looking copy (like your Spider-man 20) that doesn't cost as much as one in a blue label. Very important though, that market only exists if a non green label is very very expensive. If not, then people can afford to ignore the green label. You know what i mean right? If a CGC book with a blue label sells for $30, one with a green label is worthless (for the most part, there are exceptions if your book is signed by a comic book legend). There's always a market for cheaper key comic books and you can figure those out with the price they sell at, and you can figure that out with e-bay. -
But if the spine roll fix is to make the spine look more like it did originally, then that means the chipping was not there originally either and thus isnt considered a bindery chip nor a production defect. It becomes the book's biggest flaw along with the centrefold detached and that myriad of stress marks along the edge. And now that I think of it, all those flaws make this otherwise amazing looking book the worst 7.0 I have ever seen in my life.

Yeah, this is a lost cause if the goal is to get it cgc graded. If you want to jump onto the corinthian speculation before the show hits netflix, your best bet is to sell this one for whatever you get and buy another one now. Because any other option is just money spent that you wont get back. I just bought one locally, was still pretty cheap, so get another while you can.

In its current state it's anywhere between 7.0 and 8.0. Get it pressed for it to be a 9.0. -

2nd -3rd prints.
William-James88 replied to keith garayt's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
2nd and 3rd print will be worth a lot less UNLESS there is something truly unique and collectable about them. If it's basically the same cover as the first then they will be worth less. -
