  1. But a press is only 10$, not sure how much profit is made from it when all is said and done. Compare that to how much business might be lost if it's revealed you did this.
  2. No worries man, that's what we are here for. Good luck with this book. Pretty cool collection you acquired!
  3. It was attached before. It came apart when the spine was realigned. Which is why this is pretty darn incredulous that the grade after the CF was detached is the higher grade.
  4. There is tanning, right there on the left. But yeah the crease is the big detractor. If it breaks colour then I'd say 8.0 after a press. Let us know, this is a pretty awesome comic!
  5. Issue 3 is the biggest key from the run since it's a first appearance of a major villain that has yet to appear in an MCU film. It's not hard to find though, there are a ton available at the moment. Here's a 9.4 https://www.ebay.ca/itm/SILVER-SURFER-3-CGC-9-4-OWW-1st-Appearance-Mephisto-1968-1-Fantastic-Four-Movie/254645374169?hash=item3b4a0c0cd9:g:tWQAAOSwFB9fAnd-
  6. FYI, I reached out to CGC in case to know if there was an error (not just with this book but with having qualified books given gold labels) and they stated that there is no error. This book was deemed 7.0 since it is the highest grade achievable with a detached centrefold (which was confirmed to be detached during the process). This in no way changes any opinion I previously stated, I think what happened here is not advantageous even though a higher grade was obtained in the process. It is also really making me doubt part of the grading standards, both in the fact of what how a detached centrefold affects the grade AND how much the spine roll brought the grade down. I always thought that a spine roll (if the comic was made that way) should have minimal impact once you fall below the near mint minus range. Basically, what I mean is I believe mint is mint (using term here in the general sense), regardless of spine roll. What we had before was a book with minimal wear and the main defect was a production defect while now the main defect is from people manipulating the book. And yet the later has been given a higher grade. Feels like Bizarro graded the comic.
  7. I think this could be a 1.5. What I wonder is if it would be considered restored or not.
  8. There is something nasty going on in the bottom left, at least it looks like it. If that's how the comic looks like out of the bag, this would be an 8.5 at best. One thing for certain though, even with a press, there is no chance this will get a 9.8, and I doubt a 9.6 as well.
  9. There is no hard set rule of old vs new labels, any outcome can happen. You just have to ask yourself if the potential 200$ is worth the $70 bet. If you pay $70 and it comes back 8.0 or less (because it coming back worse CAN also happen) would you be willing to accept that? If the answer is no, then leave it be.
  10. I do have ebay, though I have not sold comics there in 5 years. No one ever asked for a return on CGC books back when I was selling.
  11. You stipulate it in the description. It's like in mint toys in boxes. You, the seller, cannot be held accountable for an issue with something that is sealed. Same with slabbed comics. the guarantee comes from CGC, not you. If ever they make a claim, bring up the listing showing that you mention everything and that there is nothing lacking. E-bay/paypall has sided with sellers in the past when there was nothing to reproach, my friend who sells Transformers on e-bay has had e-bay side with him every single time.
  12. Hello, CGC said a few months ago that with new specialized labels, there may be issues with recognition of books that would and should get purple or green labels instead. We've seen it in Signature series with marvel Character labels that are restored yet have a full yellow label and now I have found a similar case with the Golden pedigree label. Below is Captain America 3 Eldon Pedigree that was regraded and put into the new gold pedigree slab. However, the centerfold was detached in the process of realigning the spine. You can see the images below. It went from a 6.5 blue label (centerfold NOT detached) to a 7.0 gold label (centerfold detached). From what I checked there is no such thing as a qualified gold pedigree label so it seems this now qualified book is being paraded around as a universal book mistakenly. Is that correct? Because if this isn't a mistake then that would mean ripping off a centerfold would increase a book's grade. This is being discussed in this thread as well, please make an announcement as to whether or not this will/should be corrected because (as you did with the signature series marvel labels), this loophole could be abused to bypass restoration or qualified labels.
  13. Plus its easier to handle returns and any scam the buyer might pull off or damage during shipping. Hence why it's good for selling. But if you are going to keep the book, then slabbing it is just spending money you could spend on other books instead.
  14. yup, miscut for sure since you can see more at the top than you usually see and less at the bottom
  15. I don't know what to do with this particular example aside from calling CGC. Especialy if you have before and after pics. However, going forward there should be no reason for you to accept returns on CGC books. No one does that since that's the main benefit you get from paying so much money to get books slabbed. So make it strict, no returns on slabbed books.
  16. Qualified has it's distinctive colour that comes with the labelling. If it's not part of the system, it might not appear. We already saw this happen on other specialty labels where the words qualified were not there. I'll report it.
  17. Wait a sec, that 7.0 may be a qualified 7.0, which I think is the case here. CGC always has issues with special labels made for "universal" grades that take precedence in their systems. So since there are no qualified pedigree gold labels, this got the gold but is probably a qualified comic. Pretty sure that's what is gong on here. But that's the thing, Green labels probably don't exist yet for the new Gold Pedigree label. So there was a mixup, as we saw in the Yellow Marvel labels that qualified books got. Specialized labels checked in the system will take priority over the green (since you did pay for that different label). CGC needs to make a qualified version of that label. Unless that exists (which I have yet to see), that's what I think is going on here.
  18. me too, especially since we know that it was once attached. That becomes a pretty big flaw and it really sucks that a book that looked amazing and was held together for 75 years has now worsened. Seems almost sacrilegious. I wonder what that centrefold looks like now, are there rips along the staples, that sort of thing. I could understand a 7.0 if the book was made that way (since then it's just a manufacturing defect) but it does not make sense here. EDIT: Wait a sec I know what's going on here. It's a 7.0 green label but CGC always has issues with special labels made for universal that take precedence in their systems. So since there are no qualified pedigree labels, this got the gold but is probably a qualified comic.
