  1. they are special printed editions for the UK and I guess Zavvi got a ton of overstock. These editions are part of a mail subscription service. You pay a certain amount per year and every month or so you get a new hardcover. These editions are called the Eaglemoss collection
  2. Found Walmart Exclusive Transformers Netflix Cheetor today, plus lots of fun stuff at a thrift shop.
  3. Man, this is nuts. These arent slabs, but it's still paying for a third party grading service and .. yeeesh
  4. oh, they bumped the price. Still a good deal, but I guess not as good.
  5. Easy. I worked at a comic shop 10 years ago. I should have bought every single key that found its way there, especially since the owner would give me an employee discount. But that's not the main regret. The main one was that we had a whole stack of Ultimate Fallout 4 second print (where you see Miles removing his mask). Marvel had printed so many they were practically giving them away. We had them in our bins for a long time, and they were still there when I left and moved onto different interests. My regret is that I never cared to even buy a single copy. The reason I didn't is that not only did I not care much for a new Spider-man, but Marvel was shoving this character down our throats in the promotion and it seemed like it was a virtue signaling stunt. Instead of hiring more black writers and such, or doing something for the community, they just had a middle aged white man write a new spider-man who was half black and half latino. And people were buying the book not for the story or the character but for the hype Marvel was promoting (like they had with Cap's death and a ton of other stunts which lead nowhere). I found this whole situation just too much and didn't care to get a copy when the second print came around. Anyways, 10 years later, I now have gotten acquainted with the character and I like him. My kids like him too, as much as Peter if not more. And I wish I had that comic. Not to sell it, but just to have in my collection and show my kids I have his first appearance. I'm not willing to pay the crazy prices now, especially when I have it so clear in my head at how little i could have bought it then. So that's my main regret. And yeah, I could have bought a bunch of those at 2$ and sold them at 200$ a pop now, so that's a pretty big regret too.
  6. Sell now. First, buy yourself a copy of the Overstreet GRADING guide on anazon to figure out the grade of your comics and once you have a idea of the grades, look up on ebay which comics are worth the most.
  7. If someone sends in a 9.0 asking to prescreen for a 9.8, sure that's easy money, but it's not the case. Most people using prescreens are sending books very close to that prescreen grade, or else, why bother? So I'd be surprised if the amount of time to judge if a book is rejected would be much less than the amount of time to simply grade the book. I figure it's the same amount of time. Especially since you only spend the screening fee IF a book is rejected, which basically confirms that the cost of prescreening an actual 9.8 is the same as grading a 9.8. And yet one only gives CGC 5$ (soon 8$) while the other gives CGC 20$. One is clearly more profitable in terms of time spent. Now, what they could have done is say that prescreens are 5$ on top of grading fees, no matter the outcome. Would that have been more fair?
  8. Haha. All kidding aside, I do wish the people threatening to leave CGC for the competition would man up and actually do it. Don't wuss out you chumps! Leave CGC and don't look back! Maybe then we'll have better tats. That's what I figured.
  9. yeah, that was odd hence why I guess that's one of the major changes they now adress. So now it's always the case that the higher price the book, the faster the turnaround.
  10. The only point of membership is that you can send them your comics and cards directly by mail.
  11. I just made an account on this very website, same login I use for the forums. But I looked it up and it only works for signature events which is the only time I used CGC directly. It wouldnt work on submissions like the one you suggest. You need a paid membership for that. But I wouldnt get a membership if you are planning on sending just 1 or 2 books. There are people with dealer memberships that can send the book for you.
  12. PREACH brother! Changes to the price for services themselves will change for everyone the 28th, it's just the discounts from your member ship that are grandfathered membership fee is 25$ for people who have no interest in sending tons of books but what I do is send my comics to a presser/dealer who then send it to CGC for me. pre screens for moderns are the reason most people use CGC, it's a big money maker for them. They are staying but the fee for rejects is 8$ instead of 5$
  13. it's what we always say, supply and demand. They can't ramp up the supply to meet the demand so price goes up. Glad they are doing away with the value/economy tier difference, it's best to keep it as one to move beyond the 200$ price. also I confused screening for pre screening. Makes sense, seems they are streamlining activities. And the prescreen is a big money maker for them so I would have been surprised for it to leave.
  14. they recieve the books and prep them for grading and then send them to grading. Part of the prep is opening slabs if need be.
  15. I really hope CGC would treat my rare and fragile Marvel Family 20 from 1948 with the same attention they would the less rare X-Men 1 even though it is worth less at the moment.
  16. I never cared for this book either. Not a frank miller art fan and I preffer Wolverine in costume (I grew up with the Jim Lee look) Hulk 181?
  17. from the evidence you shared with me, yes that seems to be the case. We have a heritage thread on here where we go over the prices gained and there are some crazy prices each month. I personally would go through heritage as my main provider because I am an international buyer and they could hold my books for years on end so I would only pay shipping once. Plus I get good customer service if something is off (which has been the case and so far it always worked out). Basically e-bay and lots on heritage used to be around the same (I did buy from e-bay at times too when it was worth it), but from what we are both realizing now, it's no longer the case. Oh and to get back at another point, Turtles 1 fourth print is experiencing crazy gains too, percentage wise.
  18. I am very curious to see where things line up later. Especially for books like that. I am assuming that because many of these books are modern, they are in lots of collections of fans who still have their comics from when they were young and thus the market is not flooded with them, which means that the sudden increase in demand will create a crazy change in price. Not sure how long this situation for any book will be maintained and until when it simply becomes speculators selling to speculators. I wasn't around in the last comics speculator boom and crash (well I was around just not collecting), so I wonder if this is giving anyone flashbacks to that time.
  19. That's fine. If you are happy with that book, then it's great.
