  1. It's worth getting this pressed/cleaned and graded. I don't know what grade it will get but it looks like a nice mid grade book (like 5.0). Lots of demand for that at the moment. All the best!
  2. I too recommend Mycomicshop, especially for graded books since they will always take in graded books and you won't get their conservative grades. And I too hope that people will "overpay" in comparison to the assigned grade since most of my submissions got quite the downgrade: I wasn't all that conservative though, so I don't mind it on most. The only one that ticks me off is that VG that became a GD/VG since that book was only VG by technicality due to a subscription crease.
  3. Well the CDC knows more about the coronavirus than grading comics so maybe that's why you got such weird results back Ok joke out of the way, what do the notes on the 8.5 say? You only wrote what they don't say.
  4. Check the thread title. Lucky, I hear that usually costs extra
  5. 20$? Man, you are so 2018. With these 90s books, you'll need that 9.8, so pressing is needed to help us get it. And none of us know how long this boom will last, so unless we want to gamble that it will still be a seller's market in 2022, you'll need to fastrack your order (pressing now has an over 5 month wait). So that's 20$ plus 10$ fastrack plus 18$ pressing fastrack for a total of almost 50$ a book before taxes, handling fee and shipping both ways. The cost is gonna be 70$ per book just about if you want some 9.8s to sell in this current market. And then you subtract ebay and paypal fees once it's sold.
  6. Fun fact, kids today speak of the 90s like kids in the 90s would speak of the 60s. Let's all feel old together Also, joking aside, the OP is smart. If there's ever been a time to put some non rare high grade books on the market, now's the time.
  7. So how did it go? Also, I now have a better sense of what you meant with this. I was really fixated on this being a sig series event but I can see your angle because were this a regular submission, your result would indeed be something to be really ticked off about. CGC does state that the books are indeed guaranteed within their care so they should not be worse when sent back to you than when received. People have complained to CGC in the past and CGC did honour that part by taking the book back at their cost and pressing it and regrading it. That's what you are referring to, I get that now. I don't think this applies to signature events though since they state there that a book's condition coming in is not guaranteed to stay the same. More thoughts on this, I think there is some weird stuff going on here. Them all having the same issue means your set of books was bumped against something while together. Could have been during shipping or handling. The weird stuff is that 9.6 almost seems too good for this kind of defect. Sure, if it's only 1 defect I might understand but it looks more like a 9.4, a book which shows signs of handling. I don't know, just writing down my thoughts as they come to me. You'll let us know what CGC says, I hope the situation gets better for you.
  8. It's what the op asked, they seemed pretty dead set on it. I say, go ahead. I won't judge more than I already have.
  9. That book also turns 60 in 4 years. How many people will be clamoring for it then, you think? :D
  10. I am 100% certain of this. Simply because a big chunk of them have more than just steve ditko art to keep their price. Many issues are integral to the character's history and feature early appearances of characters that have shaped the spider-man and marvel brand. Also, they all come from an era where comics were still mainly read by kids and disregarded as anything of value so many have been destroyed or thrown out as you would a newspaper, making them scarce, or at least scarce in higher grades.
  11. This made me laugh. Ok now that I have that out of my system here is the answer: You are actually in a fortunate position of having so many. I am assuming you would only want to grade the ones that are sure to get high grades right? Like 9.8? So what you should do is send 8 shipments of 25 comics, that's what CGC allows. And when you do the submission form, make sure that you indicate that you want these comics screened for the 9.8 grade. Then just pack them up nicely, send them to the address listed on the CGC site (and submission form) and wait about half a year to get them back.
  12. Weird, I was basing myself off of this post (which ties into our conversation about getting the press post signing) Unless there were 2 Eastman signings ?
  13. Interesting question. Here's my question: are you willing to try it out and let us know the result?
  14. Hey man, the grades are done for that signing, can you tell us how it went?
  15. Thanks for reaching out, I will respond here so that anyone curious can see the response. Having a book pressed before a signature doesn't really change anything, you need to get the book pressed AFTER a signature. CGC recommends that and highly promotes it when you enter your submission for a signature event. By not choosing to pay that extra 20$ per book, you (unknowingly in this case) accept that you are ok with any minor damage done to the book when it is signed. If you call CGC, that is what they will tell you, as that is what they said in the past. What you can do, is send these back to CGC and have them press it to smooth out that fold. It can be pressed out for sure, but I do not know if it will leave a mark that will still stop it from being a 9.8. You would have to do all this at your own cost though. This sucks hard, real hard, and it is examples like this that CGC uses to indicate that you should spend that extra 20$ on pressing.
  16. Question about this, did you also opt for the extra 20 for a press/clean, wondering if that had a factor in retaining the grade.
  17. It would not be ok. You cant write that a card in a bulk order is worth more than 100. You can however lie about it. But if CGC ever loses the card or heavily damages it, then they will only give you back 100$ since that's what you wrote it's worth.
  18. I'd give this a press. Any presser worth their salt would let you know before hand if the spine could take it.
