  1. Heritage has been getting results like that for quite a while, the pandemic may have exacerbated the situation. I routinely see mid-grade lots of run filler books going for Guide or above but nobody is getting those prices on ebay or at shows, if shows were still happening. I'm usually scratching my head at these outliers. Who's paying those prices for these books? Someone who wants the convenience of grabbing a chunk of a run without the trouble of piecing it together and has no concern over paying a huge premium for one-stop shopping? Someone who thinks the value is only going up, regardless of condition? Crazy FMV on books like ASM #300 or Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #1 make more sense to me.
  2. Letting folks know who the seller is has nothing to do with putting him on blast but with people looking out for one another. I'd like to know so that I don't wind up in a situation similar to yours. In the event he is a known malefactor, the information will only serve to help you and others.
  3. My gut feeling is a bad press. Who is the seller and the other "trusted presser"? What gives the seller a great rep on ebay? There are plenty of folks on there with high positive feedback who overgrade, overprice, don't know proper pressing techniques from a hole in the ground and some who are out-and-out shady or dishonest as well.

  5. CGC considers Marvel chipping a production-related defect, so the right edge of that book isn't going to have a significant impact on the grade. If you imagine it ruler straight, you've got a more than decent looking book, especially with those rich colors. The other thing to consider is that CGC is not the be-all end-all. Mostly their grades look spot-on, but there are plenty of times when they can be too generous or too strict. This is where the old saying "Buy the book, not the grade" comes into play.

  10. Yup. Which was pretty much right up to the moment preceding the movie announcement. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Kirby fan and like the book but it was junk to probably 99% of the collecting world.
  11. I have a few from 1960, and one is missing the first wrap. Unless you count pages, it's not even noticeable. Typically, the first wrap contained a single page story and 3 ad pages, which coincides with what I found when checking GCD.
