Unless something has changed in recent years, I would not use UPS under any circumstances to ship to Canada. We stopped using them at my job more than a decade ago due to the ridiculous brokerage fees that no other courier charges.

What I find troublesome is not the poorly worded notion of 4 sides being trimmed, but the furthering of the mistaken assumption that one can determine whether a book has been trimmed by measuring top to bottom, side to side; that books rolled off the presses in an exact vertical and horizontal dimension. Whoops! I didn't look to see who the seller was. I guess I've made the list again.

As per Revat's post, taking pictures is a great idea, but EXTREME care needs to be taken when doing so. You don't want to introduce any spine damage or creases opening the book too far.
