  1. Pretty tough with those photos, even right side up. Probably somewhere around 5.0 - 6.0.
  2. I don’t know if I’d want to be associated with CAK...
  3. Protects against unexpected "surprises" in grade, restoration and/or completeness. Caveat if the OP got the books at a screaming low deal or is OO, but even then, see above protection. Right. Which is why I recommended buying them already slabbed since the OP is new to collecting and grading, and probably lacks basic grading skills let alone the ability to detect restoration.
  4. Unless there’s been some new development I’m unaware of, Cap #103 isn’t a key by any stretch. And unless it's is an ultra-high grade copy, which you say it’s not, it probably doesn’t make sense to slab it. If you are not planning to sell the other two soon and depending on the condition, slabbing the others doesn’t make sense to me. If you want low grade books slabbed your best bet may be to buy them already graded.
  5. I wonder how big my ignore list will be when this thread is done.
  6. I wonder if this thread will still be here when the OP returns....
  7. Yeah, I wouldn’t trust this. Besides the general shakiness of “Kirby” look at the ink deposits as it was written. There’s a dot/blob where the marker rested on the paper when the “i” was started, then another at the top of the “i”, at the top of the “b”, at the top of the “y” at the bottom of the “y”. It looks labored, like the writer kept pausing. As Jack aged he had eye/hand problems, but I’ve never seen a sig that looked shaky like this. I’d pass.
  8. You can still require that buyers pay for return shipping, but listings that don't offer free returns are not eligible for Top-Rated status discounts. You also need to allow a 30 day window for returns.
  9. The name suits his packing. I hope you filed a claim with ebay to get your money back.
  10. To all of that I would add it looks like there’s some minor soiling on the BC by the spine, too. If you have some sentimental reason to slab go for it, but it’s not a valuable, rare or in-demand book. You’d probably need to pull a 9.6 just to break even on the slabbing cost; 9.4s seem to average about $30, 9.6s around $45-50, lower grades less than either. Why not just put it in a nice, archival mylar with backing board?
  11. Meh. The run-up has everything to do with hype and dollar signs. Prices were relatively flat for years until the Disney/Fox acquisition. These kinds of huge leaps are always based on speculation and have little to do with love of storyline or the book itself. Although I don't think FF #2 will be dropping down substantially post-movie release, like many other super-villain hype books do.
  12. The Plant Man on the cover of #113 has always reminded me of Irving Nebbish from Crazy:

  14. I woke up this morning to 10 sold books and assumed they must've ran another promotion. That new seller hub is awful. Not looking forward to the day it becomes compulsory and not a Beta version you can opt out of.

  16. What a shame, RIP. She was multi-talented and the Hulk artist I grew up with (via reprints during the Trimpe and then Buscema years). Wish I had the chance to meet her.
  17. Be careful with restoration removal. If the removal will involve scraping large or lengthy areas you might kill the eye appeal. here’s a recent related thread: https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/437836-did-i-do-the-right-thing-with-my-original-ff1/
  18. Heritage and Clink both have their pros and cons. Heritage seems to have more predictable results and I believe garners more eyes. There are also reputable dealers who will sell books on consignment. I sell on ebay regularly, but for books that would be going for thousands of dollars each I’d probably lean towards auction house or consignment. You could also try the Sales Forum here on the boards.
  19. I don’t think a 5.0 would be impossible, especially with a press. There was a time when that cover crease may have kept it out but that may not be the case nowadays.
  20. It did, sometime late afternoon/early evening. I logged in last night and saw one of the "invisible" books I listed had sold, and the other listing was now appearing as normal either by a search or through my other items.
  21. You mean this info page? https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/seller-updates/2018-fall/index.html Lotsa yuks.
