If you've got them on display, watch out for ultraviolet light, from either the sun or fluorescent lights, which will fade the covers over time. And yes, best to just deal with it. They might come back much, much worse.

Once you get it open wide enough to slide your tool in, may I suggest a paint scraper like this. I find it a lot easier than a screwdriver and you'll have more leverage. I have a 6-in1, but it's the same idea.

If you're responding to my post, my suggestion was to post your question in those particular forums rather than here, not to just look around in those forums to see if anybody else did. This is a catchall, basic question forum for newbies and does not see as much traffic as others. You're much more likely to find someone who knows about these modern comics in the forum specifically designed for discussion of modern comics. That's where the people who care and know about modern variants hang out.

I was sure I had this issue but haven't been able to find it. I suspect it was a rare instance where I sold my undercopy before I had a replacement.

Who'd you get second thoughts about insulting this time?
