  1. Whether it's dishonesty or ignorance is a moot point. If the following represents a seller's methodology, I'm staying far away:
  2. I can't look at these books without thinking of this guy.
  3. CGC is not infallible, as you can see by looking at some of the other posts here, ESP Marty Mann's. I wouldn't offer the CGC opinion unless I saw proof of it. If I did, I would include a scan of their label. CGC is not infallible. But selling a de-slabbed purple label book without disclosure is at best unethical if not outright dishonest. I would preemptively not buy anything, especially raw books, from a seller like that.
  4. It's both of course, but I think the current glut is the result of the run-up when Disney got the rights to the FF and the big pandemic surge in buying, slabbing and selling. Despite of the pricing drop we've seen, there still seems to be some demand with a few hundred sold copies on ebay. Over time, even non-key warehouse books seem to just get absorbed and pricing evens out with surrounding issues. And I believe this is Mr. Bookery's store: https://www.bookeryfantasy.com/
  5. Was this sold by PCB Comics and Sports? That's the only recent raw NM sale I see ($997). Gunsmokin' linked to the $2300 raw copy they sold in November, which is identical to their recent $997 sale. Maybe the original buyer flaked but I'd be leery of any ebay seller with a high grade book of this calibre that wasn't slabbed. Why would they leave so much money on the table? The last 9.4 went for over $4500 and last 9.6 over $20k.
  6. I didn't see that link. Thanks! Welp, time for dinner!
  7. Tooling costs are too prohibitive for treasury size slabs.
  8. I dunno, I'm still not buying it. A few Facebook randos don't cut the mustard, but if somebody like Moondog or Mr. Bedrock said they'd seen one I'd be satisfied. Certain states only does seem like a possibility though I'm still skeptical.
  9. I'm not convinced. This looks more like a vending machine that was repainted and made to look like a comic vending machine. if I must eat crow somewhere down the road, so be it. I've never seen or heard of such a thing.
  10. Even if the piece wasn't missing it's not a book I would slab. If the piece was there, it looks about a 4.0 The 12 month average price for a 4.0 is $58, 90 day average is $35 and last sale $35. After shipping and slabbing costs, even if you paid cover price that seems like throwing money out the window to me.
  11. Congrats! I imagine the deal was very satisfying for the seller, too!
  12. I didn't know there were discrepancies between the two. That would be a handy list to have. I imagine there's probably an exception, but I think the majority (maybe even all) of the reprint issues kept the same covers as the original.
