  1. Correct. I see many new books or books that were stored improperly with staple issues that were never pressed. But staples creating issues when a book is pressed improperly is a real thing. Staples can be popped, poke through covers (especially square bound books) and tear into the centerfold of books.
  2. CGC will downgrade for certain odors. I remember buying books in Charlotte one year that came from the home of a heavy smoker. When I saw the final grades I called about them. I was told they reeked of smoke since the grader remembered the book, due to the overwhelming stench of cigarettes. I cracked them out, aired them out for a month to get rid of the smell and they graded much better the second time around. No mention in the notes though.
  3. Card stock books can be problematic. From what I can see it can be greatly reduced or eliminated, if done correctly.
  4. IMO some of his best cover art. Nice books Mike.
  5. They can also be greatly reduced or eliminated, if pressed correctly.
  6. Some waves are caused by the inner well. It rarely sits perfectly flat. It is especially evident in square bound books.
  7. Someone did not do their job properly. The inner well (if that is the problem) looks like it was not sealed completely, allowing the book to dance round in the outer case causing the damage you see.
  8. Looks like the inner well was not properly sealed.
  9. Yet, I have a book with zero notes and no visible defects come back a 9.0.
  10. Will be looking for certain hulk books that are impossible/difficult to find. Hulk 188 in 9.8 Hulk 158 in 9.8 Hulk 137 in 9.8 And to finish my Thanos storyline set, I need Captain Marvel 28 in 9.8.
  11. I was being tongue in cheek...but what Bob said sounds good.
  12. Thanks Bob, I will be instituting this on January 18, 2022.
  13. How would we do that? Charge an extra $0.03 per book submitted under our account?
  14. Maybe it is the easiest way to clean house. Old dealer account with few submissions, SS Facilitators who now have to up their game, etc. All in all, $200 is not a deal breaker. I do echo Sharon’s comments about the delivery mechanism. I can never understand why some choose to be a blunt object, when they can be so much more.
  15. Agreed. If I wanted to watch YouTube, that’s where I would be in the first place.
  16. The short answer is any contact with light will degrade paper. All depends how much and how long. You can hang a book on a wall for a year or longer with little color fade if you take all the necessary precautions, but if I leave a book out in the Florida Sun for a day it gets pretty messed up. My philosophy is that a book will last longer if stored properly. A wall is not considered proper storage. You want to display something, go buy prints.
  17. You sell comics for a living. Slabs bring a premium. Where are the dealers going to go? Voldemort? Don’t think so.
