  1. Hypothetically, it is best to look for a better copy. I have had artists sign over trouble areas in the past and it does work. Historically, CGC does not hit a book as hard for ink transfer as it would dirt.
  2. In reality, they are doing me a favor since everyone will have their associated paperwork with the books. Hopefully this allows me more time to do what I do.
  3. This makes more sense than hanging a book worth as much as a house on a wall. Too many variables that could lead to the book being damaged or worse. If you want to display something, display a picture of the book instead of the real thing.
  4. Since some of the ink transfer is over other colored area’s, it is extremely difficult to remove without remove some of the original ink.
  5. I have the easiest and cheapest way. I don’t hang my books up on the wall.
  6. The oils from the fingerprints did irreversible damage. In a few of the areas you are not really cleaning dirt, but smudged ink. Best to look for a better copy to send in. CGC hammers fingerprints.
  7. Anyone getting fast track moderns back? What was the received date on them?
  8. I don't think so since they only gave most less than two weeks' notice. But, I could be wrong.
  9. $11 for me, and I believe you got a $1 credit if you sent in a label with the book.
  10. CGC fully understands the premiums books are getting today. They figure $2-10 more per book won't affect the bottom line too much for dealers and flippers. I talked with a CGC rep about three months ago, and I was told that things would start to get better in December.
  11. Historically I see whiter covers and interior pages in books that come from northern states and Canada. heat and humidity are the enemies of paper.
  12. There may be a few defects that a press will help with. Keep in mind any stains, color breaks, tape pulls and cbc’s will remain but lay a lot flatter.
  13. Did you wipe the counter down first before placing the book on it? 9.4/9.6 camp
  14. Since it is card stock, please make sure you send it to someone who is familiar with the material. 8.5/9.0
  15. Along with the stain I see color breaks, some warping, loss of gloss to the cover, mild pebbling and some warping. 4.5 range.
