  1. Did their cut include the shipping cost? I can't imagine eBay taking 26.6% in fees.
  2. An 8.0 sold less than a month ago for $2760. Yet he keeps relisting his 7.0 with a $12,999 starting bid, every 7 days. I don't get it.
  3. How much of those %'s have come in the last 2 years? I caution against including the past 2 years' data in any price analysis. I'd rather look at the 13 years prior to 2020, then project that percentage out.
  4. FYI, Amazon has the CZUR Aura Pro for $299 with a 5% coupon you can clip. Free shipping too. Just ordered one.
  5. Replying "collect what you like" seems to hit a nerve for some time.
  6. I'm with others who aren't comfortable buying investment-grade comics with the market as crazy as it is right now. I don't like buying on the decline. To answer someone's question above, no I don't think Wolverine or Spiderman are going to become less popular over time, but how much of the current prices are due to crazy pandemic speculative investing? Buying a comic for $3000 that sold for $4000 last year seems like a steal, but is it on its way to $2000? To steal a chart I posted a while back, take common date Morgan Dollars in MS65. People bought them up in 1990 at $4000, as it was a discount of their peak of over $5000. But within a year, they were below $2000 and haven't exceeded $2000 since. I think I want to see where things land before I invest my money in them.
  7. I thought this one is starting a tad high: https://www.ebay.com/itm/334381826231?hash=item4ddab5c0b7:g:wOoAAOSwgFFZ0Ldq
  8. Bought an awesome Secret Wars #8 slab from Lanier for my son's 11th birthday next month. Shipped fast and packaged well.
  9. I'm looking for coverless copies of: Detective 88 Flash Comics 66 World's Finest 13
  10. I'm glad I'm not the only one to feel this way. I thought maybe I was just cheap. But I can't justify paying $1000 for a book I could have gotten for $200 just a few years ago (which increased from $100-$200 in the last 15 years). You're right, it cannot sustain. I left the hobby in 2013 because I couldn't afford the books I wanted, and couldn't get excited about non-key issues or copies in poor condition. Since then, my income as tripled, so I was excited to finally get the books I couldn't afford back then. Well, prices have more than tripled (in the last year), so I'm in the same boat.
  11. I look at it as, someone who prices their goods over market value probably won't sell much. It is frustrating when you want a book they have. They're betting on the hope that someone will be desperate enough to pay their asking price. Sometimes they find their sucker. Not smart business.
  12. Reviving this old thread, as I didn't want to start a new one on the same subject. Getting back into comics this year after a long hiatus, I tried my hand at some IG live sales last weekend. A popular consignment account had a virtual comic-con with many sellers. I bought a few comics, and I guess paid my tuition for my first lesson. The issue is, as someone mentioned above, you can't see details of the comics. I got a CGC 9.6 Moon Knight #1, which is more off-centered than I could tell in the feed video on my phone screen. I got a few raw comics graded as 4.5-5.0 ($120 & $250), which are more 3.0-3.5. I'm not interested in returning them, and possibly black listing my name. I guess it's a first timer's lesson. Anyone else buy from live sales often? Any tips, to avoid this going forward, or is it just a risk you take? You don't have time to ask for a close up view, as sometimes the books are claimed before you can hear the price, as there is video lag. You have to be fast. UPDATE: Just signed up for WhatNot just now.
  13. At the price I paid of $100 for 50 mylites2's and boards, 20k sets should only cost you $40,000.
  14. I was planning on that, but they're not even taking orders for Fullbacks. I'm hoping this $100+ order lasts me till I can get some from Gerber.
  15. Sounds like someone has pipe dreams the overnight increase in value is here to stay. "It can't go down!" How many times have we heard that?
  16. This is way different. When was the last time we've seen an increase in values, up to 10X, in just 18 months?
