  3. I'll have another sale coming up soon, Jay. I'll be sure to make a post here when it's ready to go. There'll be some nice deals, I'm sure. (thumbs u Andy
  4. Welcome to the boards, Jay. You've stumbled upon the the best thread on all of these boards, IMHO. Collecting DC war comics is a great lot of fun, which will hopefully turn into a passion for you. It's an often over-looked genre that needs more respect. Wonderful stories and artwork always make a winning combination. (thumbs u Andy
  5. Thank you very much, Keith, your words are too kind. Let's change the direction of this thread back to the books. (thumbs u Perhaps adamstrange and aman can show us those Salidas again. I never tire of seeing those. Andy
  6. I hope we'll still see you on the boards Andy. Most definitely! Thanks for the kind words, everyone!!
  7. No problem, guys. Thanks for grabbing up some free gifts. Let's hope there's some furious bidding when my books and art make it to auction. If there's some books selling ridiculously cheap, I hope my friends here are grabbing them up. (thumbs u (thumbs u Andy
  8. Hi Andy, This is sure nice of you can I pick a couple or am I to late? You'll be the last one sneaking in. Kind of like Indiana Jones grabbing his hat under the closing door. (thumbs u
  9. Thanks for the kind words, Shep. Whether selling was the right decision or not, it doesn't really matter, the decision has been made. As I mentioned, I don't think I'll ever be completely out of this great hobby. Still far too much love to not come back. Andy

  13. Hi guys, my favourite group of friends from the whole CGC forums. I've been doing a lot of thinking these days, and I've made a very serious decision. I'm going to be selling nearly all of my DC war books. I've decided to auction them off through Heritage and I've already started shipping them some books. It was a tough decision, one that I'll have to live with forever. I don't think I'm ever going to be completely out of the hobby, and there's probably a chance that I'll be re-acquiring a lot of these books sometime later in life. I don't know, maybe/maybe not. We'll see. I'm also going to be auctioning off my DC war artwork, but I thought I'd give you all a treat. Or at least a chance at a treat. In my next post, I'm going to list a whack of artwork. Ignore the prices. The first 5 people are welcome to choose 2 pieces of artwork, free of charge. Please don't be upset if I don't ship them out immediately, as I have a lot on my plate right now. The leftover pieces will be going to Heritage, or you're welcome to make me offers on any you like. I'm still a little shocked at myself for selling my books, but my family comes first. These art pages that I'm giving away are just my way of saying "I love you all". (thumbs u Thanks for listening. Andy
  14. Fantastic bunch of books! Congrats Keith for finding them, and congrats Richard for snatching them up. (thumbs u
  15. Both great books of beauty!! Thanks for sharing, Keith! Andy
  16. Thanks everyone for your kind words (for me) and angry words (for Chris FFXMen14). It was a terrible experience but I don't know if he deserves the boards HOS spot. He wasn't around long enough, nor did he off enough people (as far as I know). He'll always have his own little HOS spot in my heart but to put him on the same levels as Herald2Galactus, Cap Freak, and AlleyBat may be a bit extreme. Thanks though, -William So FFXMen14 pulled a TFL Not quite a carbon copy, but the beginning and ending were the same. . . . um, no I won't
  17. Very sad news about your cat, Fay. Be well, dear.
  18. Interesting that this gent, someone like ourselves, who collect and (I will use a mild term here) appreciate material objects could give it all up and to become a poor monk in a foreign land. I, for one, would find giving up material items that I cherish a very difficult thing to do. Not saying this was necessarily a smart move on his part, but defiantly a gutsy one... To be honest, there are two stong sides to me. One is extremely spiritual and knows the correct path. Knows that I came to this world with empty hands and I will leave the same way. Knows that the "real" aspects of our life are not the day to day events that we do or read about or watch on tv. The other side of me is just about the same as most everyone else out there. I put a lot of focus on material items, watch sports, and basically get lost in a world of things that don't really matter. It seems hard to pull away from this way of life, but I'll bet you it really isn't that hard. Now that I am married with a boy and another on the way, the likely-hood of me leaving my family and becoming a monk are slim to none (and slim just left the building). I have been doing some soul searching and I may be cooling off on the OCD collecting style that has taken over me. Something's on my mind these days and we'll see where it takes me. (thumbs u Andy
  19. Smooth move, greggy. (thumbs u Looking back, that book still hovers between $4000 and $4500. Thank God for Supapimp, the greedy S.O.B.
