  1. Maybe DC was simply put off by all the McCarthy era witch hunting? Maybe it was because the kids of WW II vets were reading comics and wanted stories about what their dads did during the War? Or not.
  2. I might have one or two. I'll give a heads up before my next sale! Shep Sweet
  3. You gonna have any BA GICs in those coming weeks?
  4. Great books! That 2 looks especially nice. (thumbs u
  5. Man, am I jealous! Two of my most wanted books at the moment. Nice copies, it's always great to see a little Fury love in here.
  6. Another addition thanks to October. Books from this era really make me happy. A great Heath Rock story backed up by a cool Glanzman USS Stevens story.
  7. Thanks to October, I have added another beautiful book to my collection! Beers, and Rollerball Girls and comics...sweet night.
  8. Some very cool Glanzman covers there Shep! Thanks for sharing those.
  9. Here's a nifty upgrade that i recently received from October. Thanks again, Andy. (thumbs u
  10. Man, that Combat#1 is awesome. I don't believe I've ever seen that book before.
  11. "See Half-Mask's Deadly Half-Sub" , What the Hell does that mean? Wouldn;t that just be a boat?
  12. Very nice set indeed! I've had the worst time, over the years, trying to find nice copies of 45 and 46. I probably just haven't been looking hard enough, but those look great.
  13. Very cool G.I.C Beau! Here are a couple that I picked up from October last weekend :
  14. If we're gonna limit this to Kubert and the Bronze age, I'd submit this cover as a dramatic depiction of American soldiers in combat, or it's aftermath in this case. You may want to make a similar post in the Silver age war thread as well.
  15. Thanks Andy! I'm sure I'm shown them before, but I'd hate for this thread to be completely abandoned.
  16. I've never seen this one before. That is one cool cover. (thumbs u
  17. BA War is what I grew up on, unfortunately, I haven't picked up anything new lately. Here's a couple just to keep the thread on life support :
  18. No. War never caught my fancy. I just picked it up because I thought it was a good buy. It's about a 9.0 or so. (thumbs u Too bad, there's a lot of great stuff in the genre but then again, so many books, so little time.
  19. That is a great book, one of my favorites. First Losers, The Haunted Tank was still the M-3 Stuart, and Russ Heath art. Roy, you jumping into War books now, too?
  20. I agree, absolutely you can. Now, I am not in the same class with some of the heavy hitters here, but I've picked up numerous nice, although common, books from board members like October in recent months. You can accumulate a very nice collection of raw books, they're definitely out there. As long as you don't need the highest graded copy ( not that there's anything wrong with that:) ) you can find perfectly presentable copies of most books easily, key s and the rare books being an obvious exception, but that goes for any genre. These books may not knock anyone's socks off but, boy they make me happy! I'm very pleased with the books I've been finding recently and hope to keep finding them.
