  2. That and #4 are on my want list. Just so I know, How much did it cost? $250 shipped, Cap
  3. Well, I've made a big deal of this all over the boards today, so I have to share it here as well
  4. Mega Karma kudos to Nick(Flaming_Telepath) for a perfect transaction on Avengers #1
  5. Many many Thanks to Mac Man, and Flaming_Telepath for the final brick in the wall!
  6. As always, Andy, you certainly have an eye for quality books in every sense of the word!
  7. That is a beautiful cover (Kubert drawing Joan of Arc ) and a nice copy! If you do get that upgrade drop me a line if you decide to move this copy Thanks for sharing that one, Shep
  8. Yeah, the 247 is high on my list just because I've always loved the Joan Of Arc story, I just haven't come across a nice copy yet.! Thanks for the heads up, Shep! These two came from our friend tatterdemallion's recent thread, well graded and priced, so I'm keeping my eyes open for his next sale!
  9. Uh ,.... do you mind , ,....like ,ahem ....could you , ....er , ...define , ..um ...."cool" ?? ........................BH.. According to Wikipedia : Cool is an aesthetic of attitude, behavior, comportment, appearance, style and Zeitgeist. Because of the varied and changing connotations of cool, as well its subjective nature, the word has no single meaning. It has associations of composure and self-control (cf. the OED definition) and often is used as an expression of admiration or approval.
  10. Thanks Shep, they are great books, I particularly loved the 227, with Rock sniffing out the unscrupulous sheik. Although, I didn't think this was Russ's best art job; Heath drawing Arab dancing girls
  11. Thanks Comick, You're right about the 24 being the only cover that Mr. Glanzman did for the series and I believe he did ALL of the interiors for the run, which is a big reason that I'm collecting them. I appreciate the tidbit about that being the Stevens on the cover, it hadn't even occurred to me, that makes it an even cooler issue to me than it already is.
  12. Thanks guys, if only the top edge and corner were as nice as the spine. Oh well, it was a nice price and I am very pleased.
  13. This is obviously pre-silver but it's also one of, if not, my favorite war cover ever.
  14. I was happy to finally find a decent copy of this book.
  15. here's a couple of nice OAAWs courtesy of Tatterdemalion's recent sales thread!
  16. Besides the GICs, I found a couple more nice Dell Combats. Anyone with issues of this title in VF or better to move please IM me
  17. Same here (thumbs u These aren't quite the beauties that you posted but I love em just as much This was the very first SA GIC that I ever owned and is one of the few surviving books from my original collection. I finally found a decent upgrade after all these years. And here's one that I had never owned. That's always a plus.
  18. Picked up a nice little upgrade yesterday
  19. Sweet Severin Beaumonts! I've never that book before, but I want to see it again
  20. Nice pick ups Whisp! I've always felt that the 104 had a very classic cover (thumbs u
  21. I think you meant the colors on the #85 are eye-catching, but you're also correct about the colors on the #55 being eye-catching (sorry, couldn't resist). Right, you are! I couldn't make out the number on the 85 with my old eyes so I took a shot. I should have known to look it up if I wasn't sure! Yeah, that 55's pretty nice too, dunno bout eye catching, but pretty nice. .
  22. Sweet books indeed, Andy (thumbs u I love the whole composition of the 79 and the colors on the 55 are just eye catching.
  23. Jeff, Perhaps you can put a hold on buying for a while, really look over your collection, and decide which books you really love and are happy to have, and sell the rest. Especially those that will be easier to reacquire later on. I have no illusions of completeing a Big Five run but I can tell ya that I am very happy each time I go to the LCS or a show and add a copy or two to my collection. Maybe fewer goals and more love for the individual books as you get them...the goal withh eventuallyu take care of itself. Good luck
  24. Well, here's an interior that I've posted before, and it's the only one I have time to do this morning. It's a scene from G I Combat that really struck me reading it as a kid. And the book ( I hope, it's still early here ) that it came from
  25. Nice books Randy I loved the Blitzkreig books. AS a kid I thought it was cool, and kinda gutsy to do a book from the German POV. I still need to replace my childhood copies
