  1. So, I guess you're required to have at least one disappointment from every multi-book submission. Maybe this one got 1.0 grade points transferred to issue 20. From an appearance standpoint in the holder, this looks a lot closer to the War is Hell than the other Marvel Premiere at the same signing. The notes indicate "very light foxing to cover" (I never noticed), which I am assuming are a major factor in this being mid-VF instead of closer to NM.
  2. Is it reasonable to same I am ecstatic this came out at 7.5? I was expecting something in the 6s b/c the BRFC/edge is pretty rough. Very cool to have this insert edition signed & slabbed.
  3. Satisfied with this one. I held out some home it would make it to 9.2/9.4, but still within expectations. Of course, no Grader's Notes to know what specifically reduced the grade. Best guess is the bottom corners are slightly dinged.
  4. >9.2 I don't see bindery tears, or they're very small. A little unusual for this issue.
  5. Based on my recent experience, 7.5. I think they see too many of these and can get pretty picky.
  6. 7.0/7.5 the one corner is dinged pretty good & the scratch around the BATMAN B. The moderate adjacent defects tend to lower the score even when the rest of the book is rather attractive.
  7. Seems like there are stress lines commonly on these, but not a universal issue. IDK if there was some bad manufacturing that hit some copies and not others? Although the stress lines aren't treated as harshly by CGC as I once thought, I think there are too many to hit NM. Around 8.
  8. You'll have to take up the continuity error with Marv Wolfman, who should have caught this as editor
  9. I had to go double-check b/c I usually photograph MVSs to show they're still intact & there was no photo. I'm 99% sure there is none in this book based on this unofficial database for all of them https://artfulinvestments.com/marvel-value-stamps/
  10. Another question I have about the census generally is how inflated certain numbers are b/c of cracking/regrading and/or cracking/signing/grading. Still, this is definitely in the top 10 of most graded books.
  11. 6.0/6.5 I would be careful assuming the reported census on newsstands is accurate. CGC only recently started differentiating between direct and newsstands in the census/lables, so there is like some percentage of the total graded that are newsstand, but without complete records. In 1984 somewhere north of 60% of the print runs are estimated to be newsstand. Personally, I'd be hesitant to grade this comic in this conditions b/c there are just so many graded copies already out there already.
  12. 4.0 train. I could see a 3.5 b/c of the split and long crease, but I think the +50 years works toward erring on the more generous side.
  13. 6.5±0.5. Wear looks like low- to mid-VF, but the foxing is going to hurt.
  14. What's going on at the TRFC? The yellow bar stops before the edge. Piece out? Stained?
  15. If the information I found is correct (and there aren't multiple versions of the IPC-Fleetway books), there are books on the census. I do know that some Fleetway books exceed the CGC magazine case limits (11½" tall x 8⅞" wide x ½" thick). I had aspirations of getting a Crisis 15 signed and graded since it's Garth Ennis's first professional work, but it's 12" tall, so no dice.
  16. 7.0/7.5 seems like the consensus, which means it will grade something completely different.
  17. I found that this book was actually still in the box when I went through it restocking today, so not on it's way to CGC. I was therefore able to reexamine. There is a bend here, with a short section that breaks color
  18. Pics are perfect for this forum. Unfortunately, as I am all too familiar with, your book has the CGC kiss of death. Any type of staining is treated harshly, and more if it's on the front than the back. That said, I'm a tad more optimistic than the other guesses so far. 4.5. I would be surprised, but not shocked if it got a 5.0 with a professional C/P that at least lightened the stains on the back. It's debatable if it's worth the effort/investment though. There's an 8.5 of ebay listed at $250. Hasn't sold at that priced, but the clean/grade with hopes of a 5.0 expenses would get you a good way to buying this copy if that's what you wanted in a PC.
