  1. even in the CGC book a lot of defects aren't given a specific name. Some terms may be adopted from book collecting, so are just in the zeitgeist. I haven't seen the term "color rub" used in the CGC book for example, but it's pretty ubiquitous. The book calls this either ink loss or scuffing.
  2. The top photo looks like it comes from a collection, where a lot of the images are brighter. Here's the edge of mine. Looks similar to the posted book
  3. I would definitely turn my nose up at this book. I wouldn't even sully my collection with it if someone offered it to me for free
  4. Always a good idea to put the specific comic info in the topic title. It gets more eyeballs of people interested in specific types of books. I agree this is a nice looking copy. Mine suffers from a corner crease, which is outside square-bound specific defects. I believe most (all?) of these covers are attached by adhesive & crimped, so there's a decent chance this is production related. How do you tell the difference between an over-crimped spine from production and a smash that happened after? IDK. I'd say this is as attractive as any square bound book I've had graded. Mine max out at 9.2, so I'll say ≥9.2 b/c it's hard to assigned higher grades from photos. I do have another square bound book that has a small tear around the spine in the same area, affecting both covers, but it's very short. I believe that was primarily why it went all the way down to 7.5, so you never know.
  5. 8.0/8.5. I could see a surprise 9.0 on the right day.
  6. The CGC books says 3.0-4.0 for a 2-3 binder holes. You'd have to post photos per forum guidelines to get a better idea. The 3.0-4.0 is just the ceiling, which I view as more or less a perfect book that's been punched.
  7. 8.0/8.5 Slight corner dings, stress lines
  8. Well, the v-tear on the back cover, and it looks like the paper is starting to oxidize around the edges. How severely they want to treat that given the kind of book and age is key. 8.0±0.5. 8.5 being the absolute ceiling b/c of the tear, 7.5 if they are harsh with the paper condition. Nice find.
  9. yip. I don't think anyone would classify this paint as an attempt to color touch the cover. "C" is the lowest quality rating for restoration–something like taking a marker to stress lines, They'd have to create a new class with a Q or X rating to call this restoration. https://www.cgccomics.com/news/article/4084/
  10. 1.0 Universal. Qualified would be for if the book had a specific issue on an otherwise much higher grade book. This is clearly low grade and every defect will count toward the overall grade
  11. Make sure to post full shots of both covers. Looks like a color breaking crease of some kind on the one back corner. 8.0/8.5
  12. Green label by default b/c of unverified sigs. Looks like a 7.0/7.5 b/c of the color breaking stuff on the back cover.
  13. looks to me like a micro-tear above comic on the top and a crease on the TRFC. 8.5±0.5
  14. The front top spine corner looks like a small bindery tear. I'd call the tear on the back corner a chip out. 8.5/9.0 depending on how severe the chip is treated. Maybe a little leniency since it's on the back
  15. Several color-breaking defects that won't be helped by c/p. Max 7.0
  16. 9.0/9.2 The corner crease is probably just enough to keep it in the lower end of NM
