  1. 3.0/3.5 Just too many different defects, some of which really hard the overall aesthetics.
  2. That back cover looks pretty grimy. I'd want to confirm the inner covers & pages are in better shape. Enough color-breaking creasing on the front to drop this to 5.0. I could see a grade lower if submitted as-is, or the back cover didn't clean up.
  3. Just b/c this is a fun cover. Also part II of the Inhumans backup story that I suspect people forget is tacked on to these Thor books. I'd forgotten about them anyway.
  4. Not that anyone remembers, but I posted a PGM Strange Tales 138 a while back with an oil transfer stain (https://boards.cgccomics.com/topic/511149-pgm-strange-tales-138/) where the consensus was around 7.0/7.5. I found another copy from a seller I've had very good luck with, so try this one on for size. I believe this seller is a conservative grader. The main defect is a light crease on the BRFC. I've got a magazine with a larger crease like this, so I have an idea where this should fall.
  5. I'd probably press to try flattening out the impressions around the breaks, but I am not experience with pressing on this format (and I have pros do my pressings). These are my best guesses based on anecdotal information. I'm not 100% convinced the grade moves much, but if they flatten out some, it would look better. 9.0 without 9.2 with, but could go either way with either course of action, and I'd definitely consult with an experience presser before moving forward.
  6. 5.5±0.5. Always possible for a nice looking key book to get a little love & get bumped up if it presents well.
  7. Front looks like a 4.5, the back could drag it to a 4.0, but if it cleans up, a solid 4.5.
  8. Not as nice as the other one, esp since the black shows everything, but still really nice. Looks like none in the census. Just for the white creases along the spine and minor soiling on the back, 7.0/7.5. If it got a GA 8 that would be ok with me
  9. this looks amazing for ~75 years old. Are you sure it's not a reproduction Only 2 in the census maxing out at 7.5, so I think there's a new sheriff in town. I assume that D in the E is part of some kind of store stamp? I've got this at ≥9.2
  10. Did you get this signed yourself? I hear stories of SL forgeries regularly, but I couldn't tell you if it's genuine. I see some medium grade stress lines along the spine. I don't think the cardstock covers press as well as a thinner paper and it looks like those stress lines break color. Corners are a little blunted. 9.0/9.2.
  11. 0.5/1.0. Can't get higher with that big of a missing piece, however,
  12. Loos a little foxy on the back. Can you comment on the diagonal discoloration on the BLFC under Wallace? Dust shadow? Sun shadow? Something else. Lots of copies of this book (and other white cover Avengers from this era) look dingy. This is on the upper end, but given the foxing, I'm guessing 8ish. Of course, I've seen the success you've had with c/p, so 9.4.
  13. 8.5/9.0. I've got an 8.0 that I'd say is cleaner, but it has a short tear on the cover. FYI CGC is out of magazine holders until their new supplier starts sending new cases.
  14. Printer's crease on the back? These things are so hard b/c it's all newsprint. Maybe a little dirty and not so easy to clean newsprint? Seems 9ish to me. Can you confirm that the mask isn't attached to the book with these? I personally think it's dumb to encapsulate the mask, esp b/c it has a rubber band if it hasn't completely dry rotted & crumbled away.
  15. the grade will be between NG-10.0. Perfect record.
  16. this is not true according to the new CGC Guide Book, it is however, the most common reason for a 0.5 (2 of the 3 samples 0.5s in the book don't have a missing piece that's visible). I only throw it out there b/c an accumulation of defects plus a big missing piece could get dinged, improbable for this book but not impossible because there's clearly something weird going on with that top edge. Additional description (or photos) of what we're looking at would be helpful. My initial thought was that it was an entire strip off, but now I'm not as sure.
  17. The cover has some indentions that look like pressing candidates. The back looks a bit grimy, but IDK if that can be fixed easily. With the stress lines & blunted corner, I'd say 5.5ish now & maybe 6.5/7.0 if it presses well.
  18. The CGC Guide is not terribly specific about creases. It says a crease can still be present in a 9.8, but I don't see that happen often (ever?). Given the length is short, and the only thing I see otherwise is some spine stress marks, I'll say 8.5–9.2, thinking a 9.0 is likely.
  19. A slice is the same as a tear & I'm having trouble making out the dimensions of the stain, but this will be a significant demerit. Can you see the stain on the inside of the cover? Looks like some color rub/lift near SNOW WHITE. It's definitive that CGC hates stains & foxing. 5.0±0.5
  20. +1 I've got this at 2.0/2.5 before, 3.0/3.5 after, although it seems like sometimes CGC gives an additional grade bump to some of these rarer books.
  21. I concur, but don't have a copy to verify. The sub crease along would bring this to a 4.5 b/c it's pronounced. With a missing piece of that apparent size, I can't see this clocking in at more than a 1.0, even if it looks decent in the front. Could go down to a 0.5. Pressing can't fix anything here grade-wise. At best a minor aesthetic improvement.
  22. this book seems to be printed sideways. That one corner crease when added to the mild spine stress lines probably drags this down to an 8.0
  23. I'll call this a boards ≥9.2 & a CGC 7.0 b/c they apparently like to hammer SW8 hard.
