  1. Tears are tough to read the CGC tea leaves on b/c it's a pretty quantifiable defect, yet their book is vague. The stated range is 4.0-9.8 depending on severity. The anecdotal records aggregated from long time participants here suggest a 1" tear has a max of 7.0. IMO the apparent staining issues here are the bigger detractor, at least as far as CGC is concerned. Stains are a way bigger no-no than tears. Somewhere in the not too distant past, someone had an early ASM is a ~3" tear through the back cover & a substantial number of wraps & it was still a 3.0 (or 3.5, but I remember 3.0)
  2. 6.0/6.5. Leaning lower, but maybe you can get lucky
  3. 9.0 is a floor, press to try & get higher. I would look for a presser other than CCS who you can consult & work with directly. CCS is a black box. They can do a good job, but you will not get any feedback or pre/post-press information.
  4. Full book length color-breaking crease, no better than a 4.0/4.5. Choosing to grade is all about what you're planning for the book.
  5. 3.5/4.0 assuming the cover is attached/not loose
  6. Mine has a similar line on the back & it was noted. Not sure how much it was dinged. Back cover is also pretty dark. 8.0ish. Harder to grade the yellow covers b/c they seem to hide a lot.
  7. Maybe 7.5 with a piece that size out just b/c it's the back cover, but that's more or less all that matters when grading this one.
  8. about an 8.0 as it looks like there's a short crease in the BRFC & some small stress lines
  9. TBF we see books come back here all the time that no one had as high as they come back. Of course, the opposite is true too.
  10. The good book says "darker" spots land between 7.0-8.5. These definitely aren't light, but between being an unusual book & it being on the back cover *maybe* it gets to 9.0. I'd set my expectations lower in the 8.0/8.5 range.
  11. Might get to 7.0/7.5 if the back grime is cleanable & the bends look better with pressing. Lower if not.
  12. best not to bias the jury. You can always use the to hide your guess if you want to put it in. >9.0. It's impossible to give an absolutely accurate grade in the high NM range from photos. Hard enough when you can look at a book up close.
  13. ≥9.2. Likely anything possible except a 9.8
  14. Please review the posting guidelines. Limit is 3 books/24 h
  15. bottom edge on both front & back cover is cut off in the photo. Hard to give an accurate assessment with that much missing from view.
  16. 4.0/4.5. Spine doesn't look great. Back cover has a lot of discoloration & it doesn't look like it's all surface grime.
  17. 7.0/7.5 pressed. The back cover photo is a little shadowy. Can't tell if there's some darkening along that bottom edge
  18. I'm a sucker for oddities. Found a seller I've used before listing this book that I was unaware of & since buying a HoS92 of comparable quality seems...irresponsible, I picked it up. I don't know how true it is, but it was described as rare. I can only say I've never seen one before, nor could I find a sold listing. I uploaded a photo to the GCD, which has very few books from this series indexed.
  19. I agree this looks like a 7.5. Sometimes the magazines come in higher than expected, so I think 8s could be in the discussion.
