The companion to the above Fear 24. Also shared previously. Looks pretty nice, but has a small stain on the back that I believe kept the grade down a couple of tiers

Peter Parker spectacular Spider-Man #9
scburdet replied to aabruzzese's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
6.0 would be extremely generous after that book was fully cleaned & pressed. Loads of sellers on ebay do not have accurate grading. Some are just ignorant, but it's pretty clear a lot of people just inflate the grades -
Grade is in: Tales of Suspense 94

Lots of bullseyes on this one. I believe what some people ID'd as staining, CGC determined was foxing. Either way, that probably cost a grade. Last update, and last return for a while probably. The rest of the non-signature books pending return are magazines, so it could be another month, it could be a year. This is basically all the submissions from mid-2022 to early-2003 graded & returned. light creasing to coverlight finger bends on coverlight foxing to coverlight, multiple spine stress lines breaks colorlight, multiple wear front cover breaks color -

I think this is an interesting case study for grading. The cover crease, although long, is designated moderate. I'll bet the back cover crease was the tipping point to a 5.5 or 6.0. This is by far the nicest looking "low grade" CGC I have large crease full center of back coverlight wear to coverlight, multiple finger creases front coverlight, multiple spine stress lines breaks colormoderate creasing to cover -
Grade is in: Two-Gun Kid 77—"Black Panther"

They definitely noted somethings I didn't see. I'm not sure where the stain is. I'll have to study it again. I can't decide if they dropped it a grade for the readers crease, or went a little easy on it b/c the offset staple location is the direct cause. light readers crease full left of front coverlight shadow full right of front coverlight stain right bottom of front coverlight, multiple spine stress lines breaks colorlight, multiple wear front cover breaks color -

Grade is in: Fantastic Four Annual 6
scburdet replied to scburdet's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Everyone pretty much nailed this one. The one big crease and the tape pull are the difference between this and a really sharp copy. I guess the foxing doesn't help either. light finger bends on coverlight foxing to coverlight paper lift center of back coverlight, multiple finger creases front covermoderate crease right top of front cover -

I declare me the winner on this one with a 6.0-9.0 guess. I think the small stain got penalized the difference between what most people thought, and what they gave light crease left bottom of back coverlight finger creases left top of front coverlight finger creases top of front coverlight stain right bottom of back cover -

7.0/7.5 I doubt pressing will take the corner crunches out completely. There look like potential for fiber damage. It's a cool copy, underappreciated IMO, but probably buying a high grade copy would be more cost effective -
Xmen 266 - this look like a 7.5 to anyone else?
scburdet replied to jmanning19's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
The miswrap is just a note. Not all notes indicate grade impacts, not all defects are noted. It is what it is. A miswrap/miscut depending on severity can grade between 9.0-9.8. The rule of thumb in the book is ¼" is the allowable white overhang before it grading in the lower range really kicks in. This one is diagonal, I have a 9.2 with a similar note, albeit on the label b/c it is a 1st gen slab. My LCS has a Qualified 9.8 for a miswrap/miscut on display. It's so off square it's comical. They slabbed it for the novelty. -
PGM Batman #405 (Batman: Year One Part 2)
scburdet replied to BWoo's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
This looks different in different photos. In the full cover shot, the edge looks fairly displaced. In the close-up, I don't notice the same thing. You should look closely at the area for evidence of ink loss (color break) and anything that looks like the paper fibers are disturbed. Pressing just takes out bends & similar that are relatively minor. Without confidence b/c of the photo discrepancy, I'll guess at least a 9.2. I wouldn't bet on a 9.8. Just looking at the FMV of this book, even signed, it seems like a break-even proposition since FM signing + grading fees are quite high. That's not to say you shouldn't. If it's for your collection & you like the book & FM, go for it (I've done this). I wouldn't plan on turning it right around and selling for a profit though. Depends on your plans. -
PGM Marvel Premiere #2

4.0/4.5. Very outside shot at a grade higher if all the grime is on the surface & removable. I would be hesitant to invest the time and/or money in trying to boost the grade of this one. You'd need a really high grade copy to justify CGCing this one IMO. -

Please take a look at the pinned thread for posting guidelines -
Read the pinned post for forum guidelines. This book is low grade with many color breaking creases and some tears just from the photos. Pressing is only to take out more superficial bends. If you're new to the collecting (as opposed to reading) game, the book CGC published has a good primer on all aspects of the hobby. Paperback is $30, but could save or make you more $ to know what to look for before deciding on a course of action. https://www.cgccomics.com/news/article/10586/cgc-guide-grading-comics-nelson/

*The Grade is in!* PGM Avengers #2
scburdet replied to Dmac1728's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
2.5/3.0. The tanning is dark enough for it to be lower than what the amount of creasing/tearing might allow. Pressing might get some spine roll out, but it could also cause damage to the stapled cover/pages. I don't think it improves the grade, but might look a touch better. Might not be worth the risk. If you got a good flea market price, then you're a winner pressed or not. -

7.5. Current trend lines don't suggest any ROI on grading -
3.0/3.5. Defects look like 2.5/3.0, but I give it a GA boost. The foxing and tanning are the main issues IMO
