  2. (25 Vintage Bulk) USPS dlvd 7/8 Rx CCS 7/10 CCS in Proc 7/11 SFG 8/22 GEI 9/11 Shipped Real soon now
  3. Delivered 9/14, picked up 9/16, still in the mailroom on 9/18
  4. No. They had a special. But now it costs $40 to grade a pre-75 book valued at $400 or less, which is 10% of value at minimum. There is a clear barrier to getting middling books graded. If you have to risk $40, and the grade might not be what you want, you are going to keep a lot of books raw rather than try to sell them for $50 in slabs. Me, I want the book to sell for $100 in the expected grade, and to be at least the cost of grading in any reasonable grade (even if it comes back with more defects than it left with). YMMV.
  5. From what I see here and in my own submissions this does not seem to be a process problem. It's not everyone and seems to come in batches, which says it's not systemic. Instead it's a personnel problem and maybe a management problem. CGC's business has grown rapidly at a time where every labor-intensive business has had staffing problems. Either they are trying to do more with fewer people or they are hiring the wrong people. Or maybe management isn't what it should be.
  6. I got one vintage bulk shipped, but the rest of them seem to be going behind everything else. CCS going on 5 weeks, grading going on 4.
  7. Things have certainly slowed down since June when were moving quickly. I note that the VINTAGE BULK submissions are in a separate and slower queue than VINTAGE. Incoming submissions are sitting for a week in the mailroom, too, although that might be due to a flood of last-minute BULK orders at the end of July (or from SDCC) Here are seven orders recently completed or in process: #1 (25 Modern) USPS dlvd 7/2 SFG 7/3 GEI 7/17 Shipped 7/18 #2 (12 Modern) USPS dlvd 7/2 Rx CCS 7/8 CCS in Proc 7/10 SFG 7/26 GEI 8/6 Shipped #3 (25 Vintage Bulk) USPS dlvd 7/8 SFG 7/10 GEI 8/6 Shipped #4 (25 Vintage Bulk) USPS dlvd 7/8 Rx CCS 7/10 CCS in Proc 7/11 SFG GEI Shipped #5 (25 Vintage Bulk) USPS dlvd 7/15 SFG 7/18 GEI Shipped #6 (25 Vintage Bulk) USPS dlvd 7/29 Rx CCS 8/6 CCS in Proc SFG GEI Shipped #7 (21 Vintage Bulk) USPS dlvd 7/29 Rx CCS 8/6 CCS in Proc SFG GEI Shipped
  8. There are also the slab mailers to consider for those in the sales end of things.
  9. You could have CGC pre-screen the book for an acceptable grade. But you would be relying on CGC having adequate knowledge of this foreign-language market to even know if the book was legitimate. I would hope they do, and could authenticate it during a pre-screen, but I wonder if you really want to be IN this market in the first place.
  10. 25 MODERN 7/2 USPS deliverd 7/3 SFG & CC billed (7/4 - 7/7 holiday) 7/17 GEI 7/18 Shipped I count 10 working days, mailroom to mailroom (I am getting the idea that pressing is more important than before, as "slight bends" showed up a lot in the grader notes)
  11. If they just wanted to move out old holders, they'd be running a special on MODERN, which is where you'd get the bulk of the orders. Or just allocate the old holders there.
  12. It depends greatly on how busy they are. I get the feeling that they hired like crazy 2022-2023 and the submission numbers have dropped. If so, then, yeah, I can see this price sticking. I can also see some adjustment elsewhere. Perhaps a higher discount membership tier.
  13. Since I'm liquidating my silver/bronze/copper collection, this seems like a really good time to submit a lot of the earlier books. The fees had been off-putting. Now, is this just a one-time thing, or can we expect more price "specials"?
  14. Since I can't predict what grade they might assign, I always use the approximate raw value from Covrprice. Many people just use "$400"
  15. Recently slabbed. Bought off the newsstand.
  16. Hmmm. I read that the flaw is created when the fold the cover to put it on the book.
  17. I've just had 2 Modern press & grade orders come back door-to-door in less than a month. Aside from mailing and sitting in the mail room, most of the in-process time was spent in pressing. The grading took very little time -- 3 working days from grading payment to shipping notice in one case, 5 days in the other.
  18. That's a bit surprising. I've had books sit for a few days, but the only time it was over a week was when they decided the package was damaged and returned it to me unopened. Eventually it showed up on USPS tracking as on its way back. Turned out the comics were OK and I resubmitted.
  19. So, I have a pile of 80's limited series (Watchmen, V for Vendetta, etc) that were printed on "Baxter" paper with heavy covers. THe problem is that each and every one of them has a white color-breaking crease down the length of the spine. I'm told this is a manufacturing issue, but maybe not every book is like this? How is an otherwise perfect book of this type graded? I've only ever got one back (9.6). Is 9.8 possible with that crease?
  20. And graded 5/16, results up 5/18, shipping 5/20 Received 5/24. Total, door-to-door calendar time for pressing/grading 25 modern: 31 days, USPS + mail room + pressing + limbo + GEI + mail room + FedEx
  21. And graded 5/16, results up 5/18, shipping 5/20
